The 2018 FIFA World Cup is just a few months away and in this article, we will take a look at and preview the teams competing from Group H.  Group H teams will consist of Colombia, Japan, Poland and Senegal.  Each of these teams will play in Group play from June 19 thru June 28.  The Winners of Group H will face the Runners-Up of Group G.  The Runners-Up in Group H will advance and take on the Winners of Group G.

Colombia is headed to the FIFA World Cup but getting there wasn’t easy.  They qualified on the final matchday, with a 1-1 tie with Peru in CONMEBOL.  They come in ranked 13th and will be looking to follow up their impressive 2014 quarter finals placing.  They are coached by Jose Pekerman, who is one of the longest tenured coaches in World Cup, being with the team since 2012.  Pekerman has a lot of experience coaching and has three FIFA U-20 World Cup Titles from his time with Argentina.

Japan will be making their 5th World Cup appearance and looking to top their best finish, which was making it to the Round of 16 in both 2002 and 2010. They are coached by Vahid Halilhodzic, who has coached in the FIFA World Cup and also as a player in the FIFA World Cup.  He has led the Japanese to their 6th consecutive World Cup and this time, they will be hoping for their first ever title!

Poland is headed back to the FIFA World Cup after missing the past 12 years.  They were the top team in the European Group E and now will be heading to their 7th FIFA World Cup.   Poland is currently ranked 7th in the FIFA rankings and will be looking to top their historic best finish, which was 3rd place in 1974 and again in 1982.  They are coached by Adam Nawalka, who appeared on the Poland National Team as a player back in 1978. Nawalka took over Poland National Team in 2013 and has led the team to the UEFA European Championship Quarterfinals and now, a a berth to the FIFA World Cup!

Senegal doesn’t have much experience playing in the World Cup but that doesn’t mean they aren’t talented. They are ranked #23 in the FIFA rankings and will be looking to use their skilled players to make up for their lack of experience.  Aliou Cisse is the head coach and he also played for Senegal back in 2002 in their only other FIFA World Cup appearance.

Spooky Express Winning Picks for World Cup Group H

This is probably the most balanced group in the tournament. Poland was one of the worst top-seeded teams, and although deserves its high ranking and top seed but there are still so many questions over its ability to compete on this kind of stage.

Senegal, led by Sadio Mané, made an incredible run to the Cup. James Rodríguez returns to the World Cup after winning the Golden Boot in 2014. Japan is one of Asia’s best teams and is experienced in the World Cup.

Colombia has boundless potential but is often its own worst enemy, while the fearless and hard-working Japanese squad might find this assortment of opponents to its liking.  This truly is one of the most even and difficult groups to pick of them all.

1. Poland

2. Colombia

3. Japan

4. Senegal
