BetOnline has set the moneyline at Cleveland Indians -270 and Chicago White Sox +245, with the total for the over under play at 9 runs. This is the third series of the season between the White Sox and Indians.
In the first series, the Indians swept a three game set by a combined score of 25-10. The second series was a four game set of games in which the two teams split the series 2-2, with Cleveland holding a slight edge on the combined score of 12-10.
Chicago White Sox Remain In Fourth Place
The Chicago White Sox are in fourth place in the American League Central Division and are 12 games back of the Cleveland Indians for the top spot in the division. They have really struggled this year against teams from their own division, posting a 11-20 record against teams from the AL Central Division. The White Sox have lost six of their last ten games and will now look to get back on track against a team in first place that they just played one week ago, Cleveland Indians.
On Monday Night, the White Sox will send Dylan Covey to the mound to make his 7th start for the White Sox. Covey is 3-1 on the year with a 2.29 ERA. Covey has given up identical numbers for hits vs. innings pitched, both with 35. Covey has recorded back to back victories for the White Sox over two of the league’s top teams in the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians.
Covey has already faced this Cleveland Indians team twice this year, once on May 28 and once on June 13. Covey pitched well in both games, going 1-0 in the two games and allowing 15 hits and four earned runs over a total of 11.1 innings on the mound. Last Wednesday when he faced the Indians, he gave up a bunch of hits (10) but was effective with limiting them to just two earned runs.
Cleveland Bats Are Heating Up
The Cleveland Indians are in first place and are the leaders of the American League Central Division. The Indians have split their last ten games, going 5-5, but have been very strong against teams from their own division, going 18-13 in 2018 against the AL Central opponents. The Indians have finally began hitting the ball with authority and have gone from being the 13th ranked lineup in the league to 4th in the league in both Batting Average (.252) and Runs Scored (330), while hitting the third most home runs in the American League with 99.
The Indians will send Trevor Bauer to the mound on Monday Night for his 15th start of the season. Bauer has gone 5-5 this year with a very respectable 2.69 ERA. He has had great control this year, striking out 121 batters and only walking 31.
Bauer has already faced this Chicago White Sox team, as a matter of fact it was in his last start which was last Wednesday Night. Bauer took home the loss in that game, lasting 7.2 innings and allowing just four hits and three earned runs. He pitched well but still lost the game 3-2. Bauer will now look to redeem himself against the last place Chicago White Sox on Monday Night.
Indians Get Revenge On White Sox
Last week, Bauer got manhandled by the White Sox but that was an anomaly and I don’t expect it to happen again. Bauer is a very dominant pitcher and should be able to control the Chicago White Sox on Monday. This will be a 3.5 unit play for me and will also be my Spooky Express Play of the Day!
Pick: Cleveland Indians -270 for 3.5 units
