The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes will take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday afternoon, February 25, 2018, in an American Athletic Conference matchup. This game is being played at the BB&T Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky and is scheduled to tip off at 12:00 PM ET.
This is the first time this year that the Golden Hurricanes and Bearcats have faced each other. They have played each other 7 times, dating back 2000. In those 7 games, the Bearcats hold the edge going 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS.
Bookmaker has made the Cincinnati Bearcats the 19 point favorite in this game and have set the total for the over/under at 134.
Tulsa Hot In February!
The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes are basically eliminated from the NCAA tournament but that doesn't mean they are waving the white flag. Tulsa has rolled off 6 straight wins and now sport 17-10 record overall and 10-5 in the American Athletic Conference.
The Golden Hurricanes come into this game off a 70-61 win over UCF. Tulsa was led by DaQuan Jeffries with 19 and Junior Etou with 17 points. Etou leads the team with 15.4 points per game and is second on the team in three point percentage with 37.3%.
This team has had a very successful month of February after having an atrocious month of January. Tulsa went 2-5 in the month of January compared to their 6-0 record in February. The way they have played over the last 3 weeks, makes them a dangerous team for anyone at this time a year.
Bearcats Fall To #11 In AP Poll
The Cincinnati Bearcats dropped to #11 in the AP Poll this week after losing games against Houston and Wichita State in back to back games. They followed that up Thursday night with a big blowout win over UCONN.
The Bearcats have the 2nd ranked defense in the NCAA and are only allowing 56.9 points per game. They are without a doubt one of the toughest teams in the D-1 to score on and this team slows down the pace of the game to a crawl. In 6 of their last 10 games, they have held their opponent to under 60 points and will now look to do the same against a Tulsa team that is playing really good basketball.
This will be their final home game of the regular season and you best believe that the Bearcats faithful will pack their “home away from home” court in Kentucky.
Cincinnati Ends Tulsa Win Streak
I think it is a good sign for Tulsa to see them playing better basketball at this time of year but the reality is that they are nowhere near the same caliber as the Cincinnati Bearcats. Both of Cincinnati's losses last week were very close contests and both games were against the tough Wichita State and Houston teams. Those 2 teams can play with any team in the nation and therefore I don't hold those losses against the Bearcats. I like Cincinnati to slow down the pace of the game and win by double digits.
Pick: Cincinnati Bearcats -19 for 2 units
