by Ayden Fahlstrom | January 16, 2020 |

The last time #20 Colorado tussled with Arizona State, it was 10 weeks ago and the two teams met in Shanghai, China as part of the Pac-12’s China initiative. That game did not count in the standings, but when they meet on Thursday in Tempe, the game will count.

The Buffaloes will try to continue to play at the top of the conference standings, while the Sun Devils will be trying to get back into the conference race after playing their first three conference games on the road.

Buffaloes Look to Stay in the Hunt for Conference Title

The Colorado Buffaloes are currently ranked #20 in the nation and come into play with a 13-3 record, including a 2-1 record in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes have won six of their last seven games in reaching #20 in the AP poll for the second time this season.

Included in this stretch of good basketball are wins over #13 Dayton on the roIad and against #8 Oregon at home. Their last game was Sunday against Utah that resulted in a 91-52 blowout win.

In the last five games, Colorado has four players averaging in double figures. Point guard McKinley Wright IV is averaging 18.6 points, 7.6 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game. Forward Tyler Bey is averaging nearly a double-double, with 13.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.

Center Evan Battey is averaging 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Guard D’Shawn Schwartz is averaging 13.0 points per game. Colorado is averaging 72.9 points per game.

Sun Devils Try to Get Back in Conference Race

The Arizona State Sun Devils come into play with a record of 10-6 and 1-2 in the conference. They recently completed a trip where they played Oregon State and Oregon in consecutive games.

The Sun Devils defeated Oregon State 82-76 last Thursday before falling to Oregon 78-69 Saturday. In the two games in Oregon, point guard Remy Martin had a big couple of games.

He scored 53 points in the two contests, hitting 6 three-pointers in the process. He also dished out nine assists. Martin has scored at least 20 points in 10 games this season, including the last four.

On the season, Martin is averaging 19.1 points per game. Guard Alonzo Verge Jr. is averaging 12.8 points per game.

Forward Romello White, who was serving a suspension when the two teams played in Shanghai, is averaging nearly a double-double with 10.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. The Sun Devils are averaging 73.3 points per game.

Betting Lines and Predictions

MyBookie has the Buffaloes are favored by two points. Arizona State will be looking for the upset and will be fired up for this game. Martin is playing at a very high level right now and the Buffaloes will be tasked with stopping him.

His matchup with Wright IV should be a good one. However, the Buffaloes have a bit too much firepower and should overcome the Sun Devils in this one. Take Colorado.
