Two teams separated by 600 miles have flown half-way around the world – 6,700 miles and 15 times zone – to tip of their seasons and make another run to the NCAA Tournament.
Arizona State Betting Preview: Sun Devils Look to Move Into Pac-12 Top Tier
When Arizona State hired Bobby Hurley in 2015 this was what the program had envisioned from the former Duke superstar and Coach K disciple – back-to-back 20-win seasons and consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
There was also a program defining win at Allen Fieldhouse over Kansas last December and an uber impressive 22-point win over Colorado in January that is very relevant today.
This team returns the highly efficient junior guard Remy Martin to run the offense and his backcourt mate is fifth-year senior Rob Edwards, giving this team plenty of experience to go with one of the Pac-12’s highest scoring offenses.
Colorado Betting Preview: Returning the Team to Boulder by Way of Shanghai
Oregon is the conference favorite, but right behind them is Colorado, according to the 27 media members who cover the league. The reason for that is simple – they return almost everyone to a team that won 23 games and made it to the quarterfinals of the NIT. A total of 94% of the minutes played last season are back with the Buffs for this season.
This will allow head coach Tad Boyle to run his aggressive rotation with a host of players who know his system and can be relied upon to manage it successfully.
Seven-footer Dallas Walton returns from an ACL injury, top rebounder Tyler Bey pairs with him in the frontcourt, and D’Shawn Schwartz provides scoring from anywhere on the floor.

Early season game predictions are always a bit challenging. Add in flights to China, jetlagged bodies, an unfamiliar arena, and an uncertain supporting crowd, and it can become even more so.
Both teams did shake off some of the flight hangover with exhibitions against local college teams on Wednesday, but very little can be gleaned from the 109-42 win by Colorado and the 113-64 victory for Arizona State.
Colorado is expected to be the better team, but the matchup is fairly even, and the challenges of a trip to Asia make it much closer to a coin flip call. So because of that I am taking the points. I like Arizona State to cover and the point total to stay under the line of 147.
