The Villanova Wildcats will look to improve their Big East record to 5-1 when they host the Butler Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats are currently streaking, having won five consecutive league games and currently sit atop the conference standings.

Butler enters the game with a 9-6 record overall with a 2-2 mark in league play. The Bulldogs have lost three of their last five games overall but are coming off of a double-digit victory over Georgetown on the road.

The games is scheduled for a 2:00 PM EST time tip from the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

Butler Betting Preview: Consistency is key

Butler has been inconsistent under Lavall Jordan and has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2018. This season, the Bulldogs are once again a bad offensive team, ranking 172nd in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency. Butler is a slow tempo team (ranking 348th in the nation) and also a bad offensive team ranking 248th in the nation in effective field goal percentage.

On the defensive side of the court, Butler isn’t much better, allowing opponents to shoot over 51% from the field inside the three point line. The Bulldogs rank 257th in the nation in opponents two point field goal percentage.

Butler is the worst team in the Big East in terms of covering the spread with a record of 5-10 ATS. The Bulldogs are underperforming the spread by -3.5 points per game.

Villanova Betting Preview: The best team in the Big East

Villanova is once again the best team in the Big East and the standings reflect that. The Wildcats have dropped four games this season but have zero bad losses on the season. Super senior Collin Gillespie and Justin Moore make up one of the best backcourts in the nation while Jermaine Samuels is considered one of the best all-around players in the conference.

The Wildcats have won five consecutive league games including three on the road. Villanova has been perfect at home this season straight up and has covered four of their five home contests. They are covering the spread by a league-best +8.2 points per game and a margin of victory of 27.0 points per game.

Butler vs Villanova Betting Odds & Lines

The Pick

Villanova is one of the best programs in the nation and playing at home. Look for the Wildcats to cover the spread with relative ease as Butler continues to struggle through the season. The backcourt of Gillespie and Moore will lead the Cats to another cover as they have in each of the last five games.
