MyBookie has set the point spread for this game at Houston Cougars -4 and put the betting total for Over/Under plays at 128.5points.
The Houston Cougars are looking to close out the season on a high note by winning the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. They have gone 31-2 on the year and ran through the AAC Tournament without any real problems.
They started off the quarterfinals by completely demolishing the UConn Huskies by the score of 84-45. The defense looked absolutely on point and totally destroyed the Huskies in the game, winning by 39 points.
They moved on to the semifinals on Saturday, where they took out the Memphis Tigers, in what appears to be a close game on paper when you look closer, you see that they held Memphis to just 26 points in the first half of the game. They allowed Memphis to climb back in but it appears that they just let their guard down late in the game.
Houston has beaten Cincinnati twice already this year in the regular season and will be looking to pull off the 3-peat sweep on Sunday for the Conference Tournament Title. In the first game, Houston won 65-58, and then the second game, which took place last Sunday afternoon, they won in dominating fashion on the road in Cincinnati, by the score of 85-69.
The Cincinnati Bearcats are the #2 seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. They advanced to the finals on Sunday by beating the SMU Mustangs on Friday Night by the score of 82-74 and then on Saturday by knocking off Wichita State in a close game 66-63.
The Bearcats now have to try and pull off the unthinkable and beat a Houston team, who is most likely playing for one of the #1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. Cincinnati has struggled in both games against Houston this year with scoring.
They have scored just a total of 127 points in the two games against Houston. That is because Houston has one of the best defenses in the NCAA. The Cougars have the 9th ranked defense in D-I and are only allowing 61.1 points per game, which is over 15 points less than what Houston is scoring per game.
Cincinnati must find a way to score points in the game and take Houston out of their comfort zones. Easier said….then done!
Houston Makes It Three In A Row Over Cincinnati
Last Sunday, I admit that I was on Cincinnati. Thought the Bearcats would come out and get their revenge but boy was I wrong. I took this Houston team for granted and didn't really give them the respect that they deserve. That won't happen again. I've learned my lesson here and after watching last week's game, it was abundantly obvious that these are two totally different squads in terms of talent.
Houston is legitimately playing for a #1 seed and I just don't see them slowing up here on Sunday. They control their own destiny and after winning on Sunday, they will punch their ticket as a #1 seed!
