Florida St Betting Preview:
Florida St (17-2) is in 2nd place in the ACC with a 7-1 conference record just one-half game back Louisville and one-game ahead of 3rd place Duke. The ACC is proving to be one of the best conferences in the country with all three teams ranked in the top-10. Florida St is on a 10 game winning streak and has gone 10-0 in their last ten games. Florida St is 9-10 ATS this season and 3-3 ATS on the road. The O/U has gone 11-8 and 4-2 in road games.
Florida St is coming off an 85-84 win vs Notre Dame on Saturday failing to cover the spread as 9 point favorites. The Seminoles nearly blew a 10-point half time lead in the 2nd half when they missed their last nine shots of the game and barely hung on for the win.
FSU was led in scoring by Wyatt Wilkes with 19 points off the bench while Raiquan Gray & Trent Forrest each chipped in the 13 points apiece. Devin Vassell led the way with 7 rebounds and Trent Forrest was the assist leader with 7 dishes in the game.
Taking a look at the team’s season leaders, we find Devin Vassell with 13.1 ppg leading the way. Trent Forrest (11.8) & MJ Walker (11.4) are the only others averaging double digits. Vassell is also the leading rebounder with 5.2 per game. Patrick Williams with 1.2 is the leader in blocked shots while Trent Forrest leads with 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Florida St is scoring 76 ppg while giving up 64.6 points per game. That offensive output has them ranked 70th in the country in points scored per game. They are 16th in free throw shooting percentage but just 262nd in offensive rebounds per game. Defensively they are ranked 65th in the fewest points allowed per game and 71st in field goal percentage allowed. While those ranked are solid, they are not outstanding as you would expect from the 5th ranked team in the nation.

Virginia (13-6) is tied for 5th place in the ACC with Virginia Tech with 5-4 records three games behind 1st place Louisville in a conference where the 3 top teams are ranked in the top-10 this season. NC State is just a half-game back of the Virginia Teams in 7th place. Virginia is on a one-game winning streak and has gone 5-5 in their last ten games. Virginia is 6-13 ATS this season and 3-8 ATS at home. The O/U has gone 8-11 this season and 4-7 at home.
Virginia is coming off a 65-63 OT at Wake Forest on Sunday but failed to cover as 7½ point favorites in the win. The Cavs trailed by 7 points at the half and by 12 early in the 2nd half before mounting a comeback sending the game into overtime.
Virginia built a lead of four points in OT and never gave it up in the win. The Cavs were led in scoring by Tomas Woldetnsae with 21 points. Four different players had at least 6 rebounds and it was Braxton Key & Kihei Clark with 8 each that led the team. It was Clark with 7 dishes who led the team in assists.
As far as season leaders go, Mamadi Diakite is the leading scorer with 13.2 ppg with Braxton Key & Kihei Clark each adding 10 ppg each. Virginia is scoring 56 ppg while giving up 50.4 points per game. The Cavs are only 348th in points scored per game this season, 329th in field goal percentage & 346th in three-point shooting percentage. On the defensive side of things, they are 1st in the fewest points allowed per game as well as 1st in field goal percentage allowed, as well as 25th defending the three-point shot & 21st in defensive rebounds. With the offense struggling this season it is a good thing they have a great defense.

Even though this is a dangerous game for the Seminoles, I have to take who is clearly the better team. Florida St is a very strong three-point shooting team and is solid from the foul line which may be huge in a close game. I cannot trust Virginia whos offense is just plain bad this season. The Cavs are just 4-13 ATS their last 17 games and just 1-5 ATS at home in their last 6 at home.
This is not the same Virginia team we saw last season and I feel like the oddsmakers have made this line so close based on the public’s perception of how good this team used to be. Once the conference schedule got in full swing the Cavs has lost 4 of their last 6 games. In my opinion, all the value is on the Seminoles in this game.
