South Carolina Gamecocks
S Carolina comes in at only 12-11. That might not be great but they have managed to go 7-3 is conference play. The Gamecocks are in 4th place and trail Tennessee by 3 games. S Carolina is scoring 74.1 ppg while giving up 73.7 ppg.
They are ranked way down at #118 in points scored in the country. Chris Silva & AJ Lawson are tied for the scoring lead with 13.7 points a game. That is pretty low for co-leaders, no wonder this team is ranked so low in points scored. Chris Silver is also first in rebounding with 7.0 a game. AJ Lawson in the assists leader at 2.6 a game.
This is a very plain Jane type of offense and the defense in points allowed are ranked 186th. Makes you wonder how this team is 7-3 in the conference, but records don’t lie.
The #1 ranked Tennessee are having an amazing season so far. But in the SEC it is a battle. Kentucky and LSU are only one game back of the Volunteers. Tennessee is scoring 85.4 ppg while giving up 67.3 ppg.
This team can score and are ranked 6th in the country in points scored. They are led by Grant Williams at 19.9 points per game but have 4 more players averaging double digits.
He is also the leader in rebounds with 7.3 a game, although at 7.1 per game Kyle Alexander is just behind Williams. Jordan Bone leads in assists with 6.6 per game. Tennessee has not lost at home this season.
- Tennessee is 4-1 ATS last 5 games
- Tennessee is 7-3 ATS last 10 SEC games
- Favorite is 5-1 ATS last 6 times these two have met
- UNDER is 9-3 last 12 in this series
- S Carolina is 13-4-1 last 18 in SEC games
Tennessee sleepwalks throughout the game and struggles to beat S Carolina!
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out the SU winner of this game, but it may take one to figure out who will cover the spread. My gut tells me that even though Tennessee is the much better team they will sleepwalk through this one. I think S Carolina is probably better than their record.
The value is probably with the dog tonight. It always costs you a few extra points when you are playing the #1 team. I feel like 13-14 points is closer to what the line should be in my opinion. I am not in love with this pick, but I do have to grab the points in a game that means way more to S Carolina.
I see Tennessee sleepwalking through this game. I actually could see S Carolina winning this game at halftime then Tennessee takes the lead and slowly pull away and win by 10-13 points.
