Saturday will showcase two teams heading in very different directions. Louisville, which started off the season ranked, has lost three in a row and have yet to win a conference game. They fell to Georgia Tech last week by a score of 46-27.
The Fighting Irish, on the other hand, are undefeated and seem to be getting a little better each week. They defeated Florida State last week by a score of 42-26.
Cardinals Offense Committing Too Many Turnovers
The Louisville offense, led by quarterback Malik Cunningham, was supposed to be one of the best in the nation. While they are averaging nearly 425 yards of total offense they have committed 11 turnovers on the season and three each in the last three games.
Cunningham is 73-of-124 for 986 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Tutu Atwell is his favorite target, and one of the best receivers in all of college football, and has 25 catches for 281 yards and four touchdowns.
The Louisville defense has actually been better than what their points allowed total would indicate. They are holding opponents under 400 yards of total offense but have been put in short field situations by their offense.
Fighting Irish Schedule About to Get Tougher
The three victories for Notre Dame have come over Duke, South Florida and Florida State. While the Florida State game looks good on paper, they are not very good.
The Irish will play at Pittsburgh, against Clemson and at North Carolina is three of the next five games after Louisville. We will find out if this team is truly worthy of national title consideration.
Quarterback Ian Book is 47-of-75 for 608 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Kyren Williams has been the star of the Notre Dame offense with 359 yards on 48 carries with four touchdowns.
The Irish defense has limited their opponents to only 13 points per game. They have been stout against the pass holding their opponents to 212 yards a game through the air. They will be tested this week against the Cunningham/Atwell combo.
Irish vs. Cardinals Betting Lines
Mybookie has Notre Dame as 17-point favorites. The total is set at 62.5 points.

I look for the Notre Dame run game to continue its strong showing on the ground and dominate the time of possession. This should help keep Cunningham and company off the field and keep this game low scoring. I like the under 62.5 here as the number seems to be just about perfect.
