Quick Pick: USA vs. Nicaragua Over 3 for 2 Units
The US Men’s National Team will travel to Cleveland, Ohio to meet up with Nicaragua at the FirstEnergy Stadium on Saturday night. This is the final game in group play for both of these teams. This will be the first time that USMNT will face Nicaragua.
USA Tied For Top Spot In Group B
Team USA tied up Group B on Wednesday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida with a 3-2 victory over Martinique.
The first half of this game left some people scratching their heads as Martinique and USA were both scoreless. USA started the game with 8 new starters in Wednesday night. Jordan Morris came in and scored 2 goals for the USMNT and Omar Gonzalez scored 1 goal. Morris was named CONCACAF Man of the Match for his performance.
USA opened up Group B play with a 1-1 tie with Panama. USA now has 4 points. They have 1 win and 1 draw in 2 games played. I don’t think there is any doubt that USA is trying to win but I think it is abundantly clear that Bruce Arena is simply using this tournament as a tryout for the younger players. They will win this group and advance but how far they go drastically will depend on if he continues to play the younger squad, that lack fluidity and teamwork.
Nicaragua Goes Another Year Without Getting Out Of Group Play
Nicaragua has struggled in this Gold Cup. They have no points and have lost both of their games. Nicaragua has never advanced past group stage in the CONCACAF Gold Cup and they won’t this year either. Even with a win, they would still remain in last place.
Nicaragua is coming off a 2-1 loss to Panama in game 2 of CONCACAF Gold Cup. Nicaragua struck first taking the lead 1-0 but that was all of the offensive output they would receive. Panama scored 2 times and ended up winning the game 2-1.
USA Wins But Play Over For Odds
The starters of the Nicaragua team is simply not on the same level as the lower level players of the US Men’s National Team. This game shouldn’t be close and I would expect Arena to run with experience here Saturday Night to secure the win and advance out of Group play. Nicaragua has not won in 2017 except one time in Copa Centroamericana back in January. I think the USA will come out and score some points and some extra cushion points to be safe. I think the USA team will win this game however I don’t care for the odds being at -500. I do however like the over here and will be laying 2.5 Units on the game to play over the posted total of 3 goals.
Pick: USA vs. Nicaragua Over 3 for 2.5 Units
