Quick Pick: Cowboys -4 for 3 units
BetDSI has the Cowboys favored by 4 against the New York Giants. The Cowboys offense finally started clicking again and that is because their offensive line is finally healthy again. The Cowboys still have a chance to make the playoffs, but are almost mathematically eliminated from a repeat as NFC East division champions as they are four games behind and there are only four games left on the season.
The Giants are eliminated from the playoffs and are likely looking at a top 5 pick in the NFL draft. They fired Ben McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese this past week. Both teams had high expectations entering the season as they both made the playoffs last season, but neither looks like they will be able to make the playoffs this year.
These two teams have played each other 111 times with the Cowboys leading the series 63-46-2. The Cowboys won the matchup earlier in the season. Let’s take a closer look at these two teams and we’ll start with the underdog Giants.
New York Giants
The Giants are 2-10 SU and 5-7 ATS. The Giants made the playoffs last year with an above average offense and defense, but this season they have been below average on both sides of the ball. They have had key injuries like Odell Beckham’s injury as well as off the field distractions such as the way the Eli Manning was benched last week for Geno Smith.
Eli Manning will return this week, but he hasn’t been that good this season after the loss of Beckham he has played below average. Whether or not Manning is back with the Giants next season will be one of the key storylines in the offseason. The defense was one of the best in the NFL last season, but this season they rank 22nd in points allowed per game, 31st in rushing yards allowed per game and 29th in passing yards allowed per game.
The Cowboys are 6-6 SU and 6-6 ATS. The Cowboys were one of the best teams in the NFL last season, but this season they probably will not make the playoffs. They finally have a healthy offensive lines which was evident in last week’s game against the Redskins. Dak Prescott is still one of the better young quarterbacks in the NFL, but needs the offensive line to remain healthy if they have any chance of winning out.
The running game behind Alfred Morris should have a big game in this matchup with the offensive line healthy as well as going against the 31st ranked rush defense. The Cowboys defense is still one of the team’s biggest weaknesses as they rank 24th in points allowed per game, 17th in rushing yards allowed per game and 21st in passing yards allowed per game.
Alfred Morris goes for 150 in an easy win against the Giants
The Cowboys should have no trouble against the Giants. The Giants aren’t playing for anything whereas the Cowboys are battling to stay alive in the playoff race. The Cowboys finally have their offensive line healthy which has helped them in the running and passing game. The Cowboys offense should be able to move the ball at will against the Giants defense. Make sure to bet this match-up on BetDSI.
