DFS Lineup Tips for MLB on September 3, 2017
Chris Sale – Boston Red Sox – No doubt my favorite pitcher on the mound tonight is Chris Sale. Sale has had his issues with the Yankees this year but this one matters as the Red Sox are trying to hold off the Yankees and secure the AL East crown.
Madison Bumgarner – San Francisco Giants – Bumgarner will give you a little relief is you’re looking for a top line pitcher. Bumgarner has 7K’s in each of his 7 out of last 8 games and has pitched 6-7 innings in 7 out of the last 8 games. He is coming off an illness, which does scare me, but he should be fine to play against the Cardinals.
Zack Godley – Arizona Diamondbacks – People will completely walk away from Godley because he is playing at Coors Field. No, as a matter of fact, they will run away from him simply because of the ballpark factor. I’m not going to pay much attention to it and hope that his skill will outweigh the elevation factor of the ballpark. Godley has posted double digit fantasy points in 10 straight games and should do well with K’s tonight against the Rockies.
Welington Castillo – Baltimore Orioles – The O’s offense is hot right now and they are battling their way into the playoffs. Castillo will face Brett Anderson, who has struggled all year. Castillo has hit 4 home runs and is slugging .794 over the course of the last 2 weeks.
Eric Hosmer – KC Royals – Hosmer will be facing Ervin Santana and the Minnesota Twins, who he has had great success against. He has hit .310 in 35 plate appearances against Santana, with 4 home runs. He should be low owned because Santana is on the mound.
Logan Morrison – Tampa Bay Rays – Morrison is swinging a very hot bat right now. He has hit safely in 6 straight games, 4 of which were multi hit games with a home run in each of those multi hit games! Morrison is facing Carlos Rodon who he has never faced but he is hot enough to ignore the lack of plate appearances against the White Sox pitcher.
Tommy Joseph – Philadelphia Phillies – If you’re looking for a cheaper option at 1st base, take a close look at Tommy Joseph. He is facing Jose Urena, who has been a streaky pitcher this year. Joseph has faced Urena 9 times and is hitting .714 against him. He has hit 2 home runs against the Marlins pitcher and I’m calling another dinger on Sunday!
Scooter Gennett – Cincinnati Reds – Second Base is weak today and no matchups really jump out at me. Gennett has faced Trevor Williams only a handful of times but he has did ok in the limited experience. He has faced Williams 5 times and has a single and a home run.
Jonathan Schoop – Baltimore Orioles – Schoop is the second Orioles we have listed so far today and I’m certain you will see at least 2 more. Schoop has hit 4 home runs and is hitting .368 in the last 2 weeks.
Manny Machado – Baltimore Orioles – If you’re going to add any Orioles, you have to add Manny. He is one of the hottest hitters over the past 2 weeks and is leading the O’s in many offensive categories. Machado has his 4 home runs over the past 2 weeks and is capable of going long at any given time.
Eugenio Suarez – Cincinnati Reds – Suarez is swinging a hot bat right now and is cheaper than Machado. I think he will get some decent at bats today and is a great option if you don’t want to spend up for Machado.
Jorge Polanco – Minnesota Twins – There is no player in DFS hotter right now than Polanco. He has hit safely in 9 out of the last 10 games and has hit 7 home runs in the last 2 weeks. He is slugging .804 in the last 2 weeks and plays on one of the most potent offenses in the American League.
Andrew Benintendi – Boston Red Sox – Benintendi has hit Severino very well, facing him 12 times and hitting .545. In those 12 at bats, he has 2 home runs and a double. He is playing on national TV and I expect a big game from the Red Sox outfielder.
Corey Dickerson – Tampa Bay Rays – I like the Rays today and love their stacks against Lucas Giolito. Giolito got the win in his last outing with 69% of his pitches being strikes. If he throws the ball across the plate 69% of the time against the Rays, they will tee off on him!
