This week, Draftkings is full of some great GPP tournaments and cash games for UFC 205 in New York.  The fine folks at Draftkings were so kind to release their salaries early so we are releasing our post today vs. our normal Wednesday!  This is a HUGE historical event for the UFC, as it will be the first UFC event held in the State of New York and at the world famous Madison Square Garden.

Spooky Express Top Tier Draftkings Play

Frankie Edgar $9,200- Our top tier play this week is Frankie Edgar.  Edgar is a very high scoring fighter in Draftkings.  In his last 5 wins, he has scored point totals of 107, 103, 170, 114 & 81.  The reason being is he is a very high output fighter who is very active.  His movement is one of the best in the UFC and his striking under Coach Mark Henry is second to none! In Edgar's 25 professional fights, he has NEVER been finished so you can count on at least getting 3 rounds of significant strikes, even if you don't believe he will win the fight, which I strongly do!  This fight was put together for Frankie Edgar to fight in front of his home crowd and I look for Edgar to not only win this fight, but I look for him to finish Jeremy Stephens early in the 2nd round.

Spooky Express Mid Tier Draftkings Play

Chris Weidman $8,600- If you read my handicapping article that was posted yesterday, you know that I gave out Chris Weidman as my Spooky Express MMA Play of the Week and no doubt, I will be playing him in all of my Draftkings lineups.  Weidman has only scored under 85 points on Draftkings on one occasion, which happened to be his last fight vs. Luke Rockhold which he was hurt early and ended up losing that fight.  In this fight, I look for Weidman to get back on track in front of his home town crowd and I am looking for a submission victory for Weidman late in the first round!

Spooky Express Low Tier Draftkings Play

Eddie Alvarez $7,600- So the world is still riding this Conor McGregor hype train, even after he lost to Nate Diaz in the first fight and in my opinion, barely squeeked out a very close victory in their rematch.  Now, he will walk into an even tougher fight vs. UFC Lightweight Champ Eddie Alvarez.  If you recall, we gave out Eddie Alvarez back in July 2016 and said he would become the champion.  We nailed that as a heavy underdog, in which line makers made a HUGE mistake.  Eddie Alvarez is a legit lightweight warrior that is as tough as they come.  Since leaving Bellator and coming to the UFC, he has gone 3-1 with his only loss coming to Donald Cerrone in his UFC debut.  As I said this past week when handicapping Marcin Held vs. Diego Sanchez, the UFC doesn't make it easy on former Bellator fighters coming to the UFC because the UFC always needs to look superior.  When Alvarez fought Cerrone, there was no difference.  Styles make fights and that was a stylistic nightmare for Alvarez.  This is not Cerrone and Alvarez should be able to dictate how this fight will go.  I look for him to constantly put pressure on McGregor and eventually break him late in the 3rd round.  I look for a 3rd round Eddie Alvarez KO and lots of DK points for whoever has him on their team!

Spooky Express Fight to Avoid

Liz Carmouche $8000 vs. Katlyn Chookagian $8200

If you read our handicapping article, you know I gave out Katlyn Chookagian as one of my top FREE plays.  As in many cases, just because I think someone will win a fight, does not necessarily  make them a good play on Draftkings.  Chookagian will most likely come into this fight with a very reserved gameplan of staying on the outside and striking on the counter to neutralize Carmouche's 60% knock out rate.  There is no doubt that Carmouche will be looking to put her hands on Katlyn but Chookagian should have no problems staying out the outside and keeping distance.  Liz Carmouche is coming off a 19 month hiatus from the octagon.  This will equate to ringrust, her gas tank running empty and a lack of points for your Draftkings team.  This is why I am recommending that you AVOID THIS FIGHT!
