Saturday, May 30 will be your chance to play the FanDuel daily fantasy sports game for the UFC. The event in focus is the UFC Fight Night 176, headlined by Tyron Woodley vs Gilbert Burns.
If playing for the first time, you need to know the rules of the game. You are simply given a salary cap to buy your team. The point is to not go over your limit while making your team.
The best team created will be determined by how your fighters do in the fights and earn points. You will earn points for things like specific fighter moves and of course winning the fight.
Three Fighters You Have To Pick
Tim Elliot (vs. Brandon Royval)
Tim Elliott, according to the FanDuel sportsbook, is sitting at a favorite at-164. This could be because of his aggressive grappling and heavy style of fighting, which most of the time makes him an interesting fantasy pick.
You should be able to earn points from him on your team, as he has landed at least 3 takedowns in 6 of his 12 UFC fights. On top of that, he also averages a large 4.14 takedowns landed per 15 minutes.
His last two victories would have been great for your fantasy team, since he had a second round victory in which he had 6 grappling advances and then a decision win in which he landed 12 takedowns and 14 grappling advances.
Billy Quarantillo (vs. Spike Carlyle)
Billy Quarantillo looked fantastic in his UFC debut, in which he demolished Jacob Kilburn with a second round submission win. You could say he was made for fantasy scoring, because he landed 74 significant strikes and 9 grappling advances in that debut victory.
He also has a nice significant strikes landed per minute
and the chance to end this one early for you. Look for him to be a big help to your team.
Blagoy Ivanov (vs. Augusto Sakai)
Heavyweight fights can be one of the more riskier and harder to guess for fantasy picks because there is an abundance of knockout power on both sides of the octagon. This does however make the underdogs somewhat more interesting fantasy play.
Blagoy Ivanov certainly fits the description. He has some powerful hands to deliver knockdowns, a fast paced striker that could deliver a lot of significant strikes, and the overall potential to win the fight. For an “underdog”, you are getting your money’s worth here.
