If you followed us last week, chances are you cashed some GPP's as we gave out two 1st round finishes and also gave you the lowest point total fight to avoid. This week, Draftkings brings us several options to pick from including a $25,000 MMA Takedown GPP with a $3,500 top prize.
No matter if you are a weekly player with years of experience or a first time player just looking to try it out, Draftkings has something for you and The Spooky Express is here to give you some suggestions and to help you along the way!
Below are a few plays to consider placing in your lineups. I'm going to give you two plays that I like and then give you 2 fights to avoid while playing Draftkings, with the reasons for each.
Leonardo Augusto “Leleco” Guimaraes $9500
In Antonio Carlos Junior's last 2 UFC fights, he lost by KO to Daniel Kelly and had a No Contest against Kevin Casey, after Casey received an eye poke. Junior has only been a professional fighter since 2013. He has fought at Heavyweight and Light-Heavyweight and this fight is at Middleweight. Guimaraes has never been finished in 13 pro fights and has a finish rate of 82%.
He made his UFC debut back in February against Anthony Smith. For that fight, “Leleco” had been training for Trevor Smith and changed his training camp a week out when Trevor Smith was injured and pulled out of the fight. I think this fight, he will bounce back and get a early finish.
Chas Skelly $10300
If you have been following the Spooky Express for a while, you've probably heard me say “Look out for hometown kids being fed”. Well here is a perfect example. UFC is a marketing genius and will look to feed hometown kids from time to time. Chas Skelly and Maximo Blanco will kick off the main card on FS1.
Chas Skelly is from Texas, fights out of Texas and will be taking on Maximo Blanco, who is coming from Yoshido Dojo in Tokyo, Japan. Blanco has been submitted 3 times and Skelly has captured 8 of his 15 wins by way of submission. The UFC will want to kick off the show in exciting fashion with a hometown kid getting the stoppage. I look for Skelly to finish him in the late 1st round!
Chris Wade vs. Islam Makhachev AVOID
This fight is going to be a snooze fest of sorts for Daily Fantasy Sports. Neither of these guys really put up any type of numbers as far as significant strikes per minute and both of them have very low finish rates. Chris Wade has a 36% finish rate, while Islam Makhachev has a 67% finish rate. Wade has never been finished in 13 professional fights and Makhachev has only been finished 1 time in 13 professional fights.
This fight is very similar to last week's recommended fight to AVOID. Bottom line in MMA DFS, you want either a fighter who can secure a early stoppage victory or someone that is going to put up a decent amount of significant strikes and neither of these guys do that. AVOID THIS FIGHT in Daily Fantasy Sports……but play it on the handicapping side! (See our handicapping section for the play).
