NBA Western Conference Finals Game 3 Betting Preview: Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors – May 20, 2018
Matchup at a Glance
Where: Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA
Date + Time (ET): Sun. May 20 @ 8:00 PM ET
Moneyline: Golden State Warriors -7
Over/Under Total: 226
Quick Pick: Golden State Warriors -7
After a very dominating performance in game 1, the Warriors fell apart in game 2. It seemed as if they really didn’t care too much. Listed as -7 favorites Sunday, they look to bounce back.
The Rockets on the other hand are feeling momentum as we head to Oracle Arena for game 3.
If you told the Rockets they would split two games at home with the Warriors before the season in the WCF, they’d be content. Now that it’s actually happened, they can’t be too happy. They went from being totally outplayed in game 1, to putting the hurt on Golden State in game 2. They’re trying to snap Golden State’s streak of three straight western conference titles, and will have their work cut out for them on the road.
In order to win game 3, they need to try and neutralize the crowd. The fans at Oracle never seem to stop cheering and rarely go quiet. The noise is deafening for visiting teams, and they also can not let that get to them. If their role players can dominate as they did in game 2, this team is unstoppable. Harden and Paul need to judge the pace and make smart decisions. At the right, change-of-pace type play, they are unbeatable.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State seemed to take their foot off the gas in game 2 after a dominant performance to kick off the series. They usually bounce back very well off a loss, as they did following losses to New Orleans and San Antonio. They will need Steph to start making his threes because when he gets hot, this is the best team by far.
In order to win game 3, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson will need to hit their shots. Kevin Durant has been a scoring machine but needs some help. Both of the splash bros struggled to shoot in the prior game and that was visibly apparent. They also have to try and slow the role players of Houston down, because they caused a lot of trouble for the Warriors last game.
Dubs take a 2-1 lead
I’m picking the Warriors to come back with a victory tonight. It is just not possible for them to lose consecutive games. Now that they are back at home, the crowd will be cheering them on loudly.
Steph and Klay will combine for 50 as Golden State takes over the game down the stretch. All the talent they have on the roster will help to carry them.
Paul will struggle to produce and that will be apparent as well.
A very timely W for Golden State.
