Welcome to this week’s Spooky Express’s golf breakdown, where we dive in head first to this week’s tournament and look for your best options for betting on the 3M Open. Without any further delay, let’s take a look at the 3M Open.
After playing overseas in The Open Championship last week, we now switch gears and set our sites on a rather new PGA Golf tournament in the 3M Open. This is only the 3rd year for this tournament, so not really a ton of course history to go off of. Let’s take a deeper look into this tournament.

TPC Twin Cities Golf Course Details
TPC Twin Cities Golf Course in Blaine, Minnesota
Par 72 – 7,164 yards
The 3M Open will be held at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. The course is relatively new, opening less than 20 years ago in the year 2000. The course was designed on behalf of Arnold Palmer with the added consultation of Tom Lehman, a Minnesota native. When the course was initially designed, they converted an old sod farm over into the beautiful golf course that it is today.
The course is a Par 71 that plays at a distance of 7,164 yards. There is water in play here at nearly every hole and lots and lots of bunkers! There is water in 12 of 18 holes and it seems like there are bunkers on nearly every fairway but don’t be fooled by this as this course does not appear to be very hard, with last year’s winner scoring a -21.
What seems to me is the bunkers really don’t do much to penalize these golfers as most will not even come close to landing in these bunkers. These bunkers may be in play for low level amateurs but these are pro’s and even the worst of the worst should have no issues avoiding these bunkers.
The greens here at TPC Twin Cities also should not cause much concern, as they are bentgrass and seem pretty standard.
3M Open Tournament System Attributes
One of the first attributes we will focus on is Strokes Gained: Approach. With there being so many bunkers and water hazards, these golfers need to take precautions with their approach shot and if they get lazy, they will find themselves adding numbers on their scorecards.
Additionally, we want to focus on Greens in Reg. Putting their ball on the greens is going to be very important here at TPC Twin Cities and therefore we will use Greens In Reg numbers as our second most important attribute. The rest of our attributes are listed below in the order of importance:
- Strokes Gained: Approach
- Greens In Reg
- Birdie or Better %
