PGA Tour: WM Phoenix Open Picks

The next PGA Tour event that you do not want to miss is the Waste Management Phoenix Open coming up on Thursday, February 6 at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course in Arizona. The prize purse is set at $9,200,000 and Scottie Scheffler is favored to win with odds at +250 at MyBookie.

Waste Management Phoenix Open Betting Preview

Bettors should expect higher scores coming from the winner, so look for golfers that are able to kill it when putting. In addition, Arizona had drier seasons with little rain over the last few months, so the course will likely play faster. Below are some competitive choices to win.

Golfers That Could Win

The Waste Management Phoenix Open is one that many fans cherish and golfers love to play. The close interaction with fans is what separates this event from others on the calendar.

Not only is this a beautiful course, but consider an “All-Star” game where the best golfers get to hear it from fans as they play. For example, poor shots get negative feedback while great shots are highlighted with cheers.

TPC Scottsdale is a Par 71 that measures about 7,260 yards. Some interesting trends for this event include the last 16 of 18 winners having two events of experience playing here. On top of that, 13 of 16 recent winners were already ranked inside the Official World Golf Rating Top 55.

Justin Thomas +1200

Thomas has plenty of history at this event, as in the six years he has participated, he has never dipped below 13th (three of those being top-four finishes). Last year, Thomas finished T12, but he arguably has a good shot here.

His best performance to date was his second place finish at the American Express. With positive momentum, he has a good opportunity here.

Hideki Matsuyama +1600

Matsuyama, the fifth-best golfer according to the world rankings, finished T22 here last year. Despite the weaker finish compared to some of the other golf I greats listed here, he won this event in back to back years from 2016 to 2017.

MyBookie offers you the best Waste Management Phoenix Open betting odds, favoring Scheffler to dominate once again. He has three consecutive top-three or better at this event, making him a clear favorite to pick. He has placed T7 in 2021, won in 2022, won in 2023, and T3 last year.

Scheffler has an incredible opportunity to win, but a potentially better bet would be for him to finish in the top 10 or five. One golfer that could make a great run here is Sam Burns.

Burns placed T3 alongside Scheffler here last year. He is coming off a T8 at the Sentry, T21 at the American Express, and T22 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He placed T6 in 2023 and has been trending up the last two seasons at this event.

Final Pick: Sam Burns +2200
