The Big Dreyfus Stakes Betting Preview – Saturday, July 24, 2021

by Spooky Express | July 23, 2021 |

The $100,000 Big Dreyfus Stakes is the sixth of nine races on Pimlico’s Saturday card. The mile and an eighth race on the turf is open to fillies and mares three years old and up with six entries in the field.

Betting Preview: Counterparty Risk

The four-year-old filly is coming off a third-place finish in the Grade III Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park, outperforming her 12/1 odds and finishing just half a length out of the runner-up position. Her only win since breaking her maiden on November 11th at Aqueduct came in the $175,000 Grade III Endeavor Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on February 6th by a length as the odds on 9/10 favorite.

Counterparty Risk has a record of 2-1-1 with earnings of $174,830. She will start from the second post position as the morning line favorite with 6/5 odds.

Betting Preview: No Mo Lady

No Mo Lady has yet to win a stakes race, and her last start resulted in a third-place finish in an allowance optional claiming contest at Belmont Park on June 27th, and the five-year-old mare last won in an allowance optional claiming race at Laurel Park on June 12th, 2020. She has a lone graded stakes appearance, coming in third in the $150,000 Grade III Gallorette Stakes at Pimlico on October 3rd as an 11/1 underdog.

Her earnings are $232,561 in 18 career races with a mark of 4-5-2. No Mo Lady has morning line odds of 3/1 and will start from the fifth post position.

Betting Preview: Sister Hanan

Four of Sister Hanan’s four races in 2021 have come in stakes races, and the first three were in the graded variety, but she hasn’t finished better than third in any of them since a win in an allowance optional claiming race on December 18th. The most recent outing for the five-year-old mare was a fourth-place finish in the Ellis Park Turf Stakes (Black Type) on July 4th, slightly outperforming her 6/1 odds.

In 12 career outings, Sister Hanan has earned $164,935 with a record of 3-2-3. She drew the outside post position and has morning line odds of 3/1.

Betting Preview: Sailingtothewind

Sailingintothewind won in her last outing, an allowance optional claiming contest at Pimlico on May 23rd, which was the four-year-old filly’s first race of 2021 after finishing seventh out of eight entries in another allowance optional claiming race at Laurel Park on December 20th. She broke her maiden as a three-year-old on July 31st at Laurel Park in her third try and will be making her stakes race debut.

With a record of 3-1-1 in eight races, Sailingintothewind has earnings of $91,490. She has morning line odds of 6/1 and will be breaking from the inside post position.

Free Betting Pick

It appears that the best pick in the race is the favorite, although at 6/5 odds, it will be difficult to score much of a payday on Counterparty Risk. Using her as part of a multiple horse wager is another alternative.
