H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Presented by Runhappy from Saratoga Betting Preview and FREE PLAY- Saturday, August 1, 2020

The Grade I, $300,000 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes Presented by Runhappy will run as Race 10 on the Aug. 1 card at Saratoga.

The event for 3-year-olds will cover seven furlongs and include names like No Parole and Echo Town among the field of 11.

Here is a look at the top contenders set for the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes. 

No Parole, Echo Town

The favorite coming in with a morning line at 9/5 is Maggi Moss and Greg Tramontin’s No Parole. The son of Violence trained by Thomas Amoss is 5-0-0 from six career starts with earnings of $295,366. His 2020 record includes four victories from five starts.

His last performance was a victory in the June 20 Woody Stephens S. Presented by Claiborne Farm (G1). He also took an April 25 allowance optional claiming race and finished eight in the March 14 Rebel Stakes (G2), both at Oaklawn Park. His other big performances include a victory in the Feb. 8 LA Bred Premier Night Prince Stakes (Black Type) at Delta Downs.

No Parole will break from post 6 under Luis Saez.

His biggest rival for the event could come in the form of L and N Racing’s Echo Town, the second-choice with a morning line at 9/2.

The son of Speightstown trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen has a career record of 3-2-1 from six starts with earnings of $210,320. His 2020 season includes three wins, two second, and one third from six starts.

The colt finished second last time out in the June 20 Woody Stephens Stakes Presented by Claiborne Farm (G1) at Belmont Park. He also scored a May 25 allowance optional claiming race at Churchill Downs and second in the April 25 Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Echo Town will break from post 4 under Ricardo Santana, Jr. 

Eight Rings

Another runner to pay attention to is SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Frederick Hertrich, John Fielding, Golconda Stables, and Coolmore Stud’s Eight Rings. A son of Empire Maker trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert is 2-0-0 from five career starts with earnings of $239,951.
His only 2020 start was a fifth-place effort in the April 25 Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park. He closed out his 2019 season with a sixth-place finish in the Nov. 1 TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) at Santa Anita and scored the Sept. 27 American Pharoah Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita. 

Eight Rings will break from post 2 under Joel Rosario. 

The rest of the field (post, morning line) will include: Hopeful Treasure (post 1, 50/1); Sonneman (post 3, 50/1); Mischievous Alex (post 5, 8/1); Shoplifted (post 7, 12/1); Three Technique (post 8, 6/1); Liam’s Pride (post 9, 20/1); Captain Bombastic (post 10, 15/1); and Tap it To Win (post 11, 5/1).
