The Grade 2, $600,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes is set as Race 9 on the July 11 card at Keeneland.
The race for 3-year-olds will cover 1 1/8 miles and include names like Swiss Skydiver and Rushie among the field of 13.
Here is a look at the top contenders set for the Blue Grass Stakes.
Swiss Skydiver, Rushie
The favorite coming into the Blue Grass Stakes with a morning-line at 3/1 is Peter Callahan’s Swiss Skydiver.
Trained by Kenneth McPeek, the daughter of Daredevil has a career record of 4-1-1 from seven starts with earnings of $557,980.
In her most recent race, she scored the June 6 Santa Anita Oaks (G2) at Santa Anita Park, registering a 108 Speed Figure.
Prior to that performance, the filly won the May 1 Fantasy Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park and the March 28 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) at Gulfstream.
She also took third in the Feb. 15 Rachel Alexandra Stakes presented by Fasig-Tipton (G2) at Fair Grounds and fifth in the Jan. 18 Gasparilla Stakes (Black Type) at Tampa Bay Downs.
Swiss Skydiver will break from post 7 under Mike Smith.
She will be challenged by Jim and Donna Daniell’s Rushie, coming in with a morning-line at 5/1.
Trained by Michael McCarthy , the son of Liam’s Map has a career record of 2-1-1 from five starts and earnings of $129, 351.
Last time out, he finished third in the June 6 Runhappy Santa Anita Derby (G1) at Santa Anita Park. He also scored a May 2 allowance optional claiming race at Oaklawn Park and finished second in one on March 14 at Santa Anita.
Rushie will break from post 10 under Javier Castellano.
Another horse to keep an eye on is Jack or Better Farm’s Shivaree, with a morning-line at 8/1.
The son of Awesome of Course trained by Ralph Nicks has three wins, three seconds, and two thirds from 11 career starts. His earnings are currently at $344,005.
The colt finished third last time out in a June 10 allowance optional claiming race at Gulfstream, which followed a second-place finish in the March 28 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at the same track.
He will break from post 1 under John Velazquez.
