5 Private Property had troubled trip last out but still managed to finish 4th beaten by just 2-lengths versus tougher horses than she faces today. Win Contender 

7 Buckeye Bombshell nearly broke her maiden 2 races back when finishing second by a neck at this level and distance. Filly followed up that effort a non-threatening 4th place finish. She was compromised that day by a slow pace upfront. Filly’s best chance in here today is try to them gate-to-wire which I believe will be the game plan. Major Threat

Gulfstream Park Race 9

1 Culpa takes a significant drop in class after finishing 6th versus much tougher for trainer Saffie Joesoph Jr who hits at 35% with a drop this deep. Win Contender 

4 Big Timer gets a huge  Jockey upgrade to Irad Ortiz Jr today. Gelding has yet finish out of the money in 3 career starts and runs for a new barn today after being claimed for 25 large. Win Contender 

7 RuleroftheUniverse would be my top choice but the 7 month layoff is a concern. This 5 year old has been competing well versus better but this suspicious drop is also raising eyebrows. I’ll use Underneath.

Oaklawn Park Race 9 Ratings Handicap

4 Demidanu looks like a top Value Play in this evenly matched race. Mare is a closer in a race full of early speed types. She has the tendency of breaking slow which would doom her chances in this 5 and a half furlong race but at 10-1 morning line, I’m willing take a shot with this gal. She has won 4 of 8 at this distance. Win Contender 

5 Kan’t Believe It took a much better group of horses a long way last out on the front end but tired late in the stretch drive. If no one goes with Mare early, she’s the likely winner, however there is some sharp early speed to her inside. Win Contender 

3 Ankarina is another speedball who likes to wing it on the front end. She drops in class after finishing a tiring 7th. She needs to be careful not to engage with the aforementioned early, if she does, we could have a suicidal duel upfront which would benefit my top pick. Use with Caution

2 Shangrilama drops in class off a win versus better for a trainer who hits at 33% winners off that scenario. Mare has a nice late turn of foot and sports a fine resume here at Santa Anita. Top Pick

7 Candy Bar drops back down in class after a solid effort versus Allowance/Optional 50k 1x foes last out. She fits well here. Win Contender 

4 Tam’s Little Angel is a speedster who in the past was able to win at this level. She’ll try to wire this group but likely gives it up late in the stretch. Use Underneath
