Horse Racing Picks Today: Saratoga, Monmouth Park & Del Mar Best Bets

Saratoga Race 5 Diana Stakes Grade 1

3 Kathynmarissa was last seen finishing a disappointing third in the Grade 1 New York here at the Spa. I’m going to forgive that effort because the mile and 3 sixteenth distance is not this gals preferred distance and she was racing wide throughout that Grade 1. She now gets back to a mile and an eighth where she’s a perfect 3 for 3. This is her third race of the form cycle and  should rebound well today. Top Pick

4 Portfolio Duration has been no worse than second in 5 Lifetime starts as she has ascended the class ladder. Filly recently went gate-to-wire in the Grade 1 New York. Win Contender

6 Segesta must be respected as she is a multiple Grade 1 winning Mare who has won well over 1.5 million in just 13 career starts. Major Player

Selections 3-4-6-7

Monmouth Park Race 7 Matchmaker Stakes Grade 3

3 City Girl held her own when finishing 4th by less than 3-lengths versus a salty bunch in the New York Stakes last out at Saratoga. This is a much easier cast of characters she faces today. I love this Chad Brown trainee in this spot. Top Pick

1 Sweet Treasure has good tactical speed and should find a nice position early. Filly won a Grade 3 back on May 30th and has been training forwardly since. Win Contender

2 Grayosh was compromised by a pedestrian pace upfront in the Grade 3 Eatontown over this turf course here at Monmouth. If she can get a better pace set up, I like her chances to run them down at the wire. Don’t Ignore

Selections 3-1-2-6

Monmouth Park Race 12 Haskell Stakes Grade 1

4 The Puma hasn’t seen race day in over 3 months. Colt’s last race was in the Florida Derby where he was nosed out at the wire. The layoff isnan obvious concern but I believe trainer Gustavo Delgado will have this one ready to fire first off the bench. The work tab looks tight. This son of Essential Quality will likely stalk the front runners and make one big run. Win Contender

2 Further Ado has had some eye catching performances in his short career. He sports the highest dirt  Bris speed figure 105 of his challengers today. He has sharp early speed but doesn’t necessarily need to be on the lead to get the W. He’s talented, tactical and has been training well. Win Contender

6 Napoleon Solo has been training lights out since his impressive win in the Preakness. Colt enters here off a recent 1/58 bullet. Major Threat

Selections 4-2-6-7

Del Mar Race 9 San Clemente Stakes Grade 2

3 Ground Support came off  8- month layoff and showed good early foot before fading in the stretch run last out in the Tepin Stakes at Churchill. Filly gets back on the Del Mar sod where she outran her 24-1 odds when finishing 3rd in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She got sone much needed freshening in her return and now she’s ready to step forward here in this Grade 2. TOP VALUE PLAY OF THE DAY

8 Inbox has been able to close despite slow paces upfront in his last 2 of 3 races. If this Filly gets a quick pace set up, she’ll likely run them down at the wire. Don’t sleep on this Phil D’Amato trainee. Live Longshot

9 Looking at Diamond stepped up in class off her maiden score and finished a game third in the Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita. A move forward off that effort makes her a player here. Major Threat
