Stogie’s Horse Racing Picks for Friday, April 4, 2025

Stogies Horse Racing

Aqueduct Race 2

  • 2 Face the Facts finished a non-threatening 5th last time and was claimed for 40k. Colt makes his first for new trainer Michelle Gianglullo, who does reasonably well with newbies to her stable. Colt has been training well and should move forward as he makes his second start off the bench. Win Contender
  • 3 Silo Ridge exits from career top while getting nosed out at the wire at this level a month ago. Any repeat of that effort likely gets the win here today, but at the 3-5 morning line, I’ll take a shot at beating him this afternoon. Win Contender
  • 4 Camm’s Duke has shown some good early foot against a bit weaker but has tired late in the stretch in each of his last three races, finishing second. Colt only has one win in 26 starts, but his work tab looks tight, and his trainer must have confidence in this Gelding to step him up the class ladder. Use Underneath

Selections 2-3-4-6

Aqueduct Race 7

  • 6 Repo Rocks chased home a very good horse in Book em’ Dano to finish third last out. This Veteran Gelding hasn’t seen the winner’s circle in a while but has been training well for trainer Jamie Ness, who usually has live runners when shipping in. Win Contender
  • 3 Big Blue Line was last seen defeating a field of 7 on the All-Weather surface at Turfway Park. This 6-year-old does have a win at this distance while running on the dirt at the Spa. Don’t sleep on this William Walden trainee. Win Contender
  • 2 Star of Wonder has won 3 of 4 lifetime but hasn’t been seen since November. This son of Uncle Mo has shown some serious late foot in all three of his Lifetime wins. If trainer Brad Cox has this one anywhere near 100%, he’ll be a factor at the wire. Major Threat

Selections 6-3-2-5

Oaklawn Park Race 9

  • 11 Miss Country County stalked a hot pace and ran sharp second versus a large field 12. The mare was making her first start in over 7 months and ran extremely well. I’m not crazy about the 11 post but this gal has tactical speed and should be in a good position, likely just off the front runners. She’ll have the first run at the leaders and will need to hold off the closers at the wire. Win Contender
  • 5 One Way Or Another hasn’t been able to the W at this level but has run a respectable third in his last two races. Mare now makes her third start of the form cycle for a trainer who hits 27% winners off that angle. I can see this gal moving forward today. Major threat
  • 7 Appealing Addie drops in class and gets first-time juice. Don’t Ignore

Selections 11-5-7-8
