Stogies Horse Racing

Laurel Park Race 7

  • 5 High Paf was a debut winner here at this distance for trainer Brittany Russell. Russell hits at an incredible 36% winners with her next out Maiden winners. This daughter of McKinzie was able to get her nose down at the wire despite a troubled trip. Win Contender
  • 1 Shkhara Fire is the most accomplished runner of this group and the only runner who has a Stakes victory under her belt. She fits well here. Win Contender
  • 8 Sassafrassness is another debut winner taking on winners for the first time. She climbs the class ladder after kicking clear for comfortable win over this main track here at Laurel. Major Threat

Selections 5-1-8-3

Aqueduct Race 8

  • 1 Gorzo is one of many in here who have not shown much running as of to date. With the #2 horse being a likely overwhelming favorite come post-time, this is the type of a race that brings in a Longshot. This Gelding just might be that bomber we are looking for. Although he didn’t show much in his debut, he now makes his first start in the David Duggan Barn. Duggan does extremely well with newbies to his stable. The first time lasix and blinkers just add to the intrigue. Live Longshot
  • 2 Runamor crossed the finishing line first last out but was placed second via disqualification. Any repeat of the number this Linda Rice trainee ran that day will demolish this lackluster bunch. This Gelding will be pounded at the windows and offers little value on the win bet. Let’s try to beat this son of Runhappy today. Win Contender
  • 9 Capt Jax Parrow chased the pace last out and was no match for the winner. He did show improvement in debut and appears to be moving in the right direction. Don’t Ignore

Selections 1-2-9-7

Oaklawn Park Race 8 Lapatourel Overnight Stakes

  • 4 In Just My Heels lost all chance of victory last out when the early pace was run at a pedestrian pace. This closer still came home strong to finish fifth. Filly sports the best late-pace numbers of her rivals and if she gets a solid pace upfront, she likely will run them down at the wire. Win Contender
  • 3 Miss Hebrides steps up the class ladder after defeating Allowance/Optional 50KN2 types in her most recent start. Filly enters here in fine form and shows a recent 1/74 bullet. Win Contender
  • 7 Mercy Warren must be considered after reeling off three straight victories which includes a recent 8-length romp at the Fair Grounds. Don’t Ignore

Selections 4-3-7-5

Oaklawn Park Race 10

  • 4 Masquerade overcame a troubled trip to finish 3rd by 1 versus a solid field of Allowance/Optional 80K2N types last out. This 7-year-old Gelding has back class and is a Stakes winner over this distance. Win Contender
  • 6 Game Warden was a game-winner last out over this dirt track here at Oaklawn Park. This Tapit Gelding has been training well since and should be player here second off the layoff. Win Contender
  • 10 Sir Greylind is a lightly raced 4-year-old who has yet to run a bad race in 7 lifetime starts. This closer tends to find trouble and has not had a clean trip in his last two starts. A trouble-free trip today could get this one to the winner’s circle. Major Threat

Selections 4-6-10-11
