Stogies Horse Racing

Don’t miss Stogie’s Horse Racing Picks for Saturday, December 7, 2024. Today he breaks down Stakes Races from Aqueduct to include the Go For Wand Stakes, Remsen Stakes, Demoisel Stakes and Cigar Mile!

Aqueduct Race 4 Go For Wand Stakes Grade 3

  • 1 Tizzy in the Sky appears to be the controlling speed in this one-turn mile. With the lack of want the lead types in here, I can see this Todd Pletcher trainee taking this group gate-to-wire today. Win Contender
  • 3 Occult rallied for a second place finish last out in the Grade 1 Spinster, losing to the powerful Mare Idiomatic. It’s been awhile since this Filly has seen the winner’s circle but this race appears to be much softer than she has been facing. She fits well with these. Win Contender
  • 8 Shidabhuti is a 3-time winner in 6 starts here at the Big A. If someone goes with the likely pacesetter Tizzy in the Sky, I believe this Chad Brown trained daughter of Practical Joke can run them down late. Don’t Ignore

Selections 1-3-8-7

Aqueduct Race 7 Remsen Stakes Grade 2

  • 3 Poster is unbeaten in two starts on the turf, dispatching winners at first asking last out by a comfortable 3 lengths. If this son of Munnings takes to the surface switch, I love this Colt’s chances to pull off the upset here. Win Contender
  • 5 Keewaydin has looked very sharp in two career starts, including a Maiden breaking win 2 months ago while sprinting here at the Big A. Colt routes for the first time today and I’m a bit skeptical that this son of Instagrand wants this mile an eighth distance. Youngster still might prove me wrong. Win Contender
  • 1 Tux was a winner while sprinting in debut here. This son of Tapit is bred to go long, so he should relish the added distance today. Major Threat

Selections 3-5-1-2

Aqueduct Race 8 Demoisel Stakes Grade 2

  • 10 Ballerina d’ Oro was last seen finishing 8th by just 3 lengths in the Grade 2 Jessamn Stakes on the Turf. Chad Brown goes turf to dirt and adds first time blinkers today. Brown hits at 26% winners off that angle. This Filly has shown she can make up ground despite some pedestrian paces upfront. If this gal gets a hot pace early today, I like her chances to run them down in the stretch drive. Live Longshot
  • 2 Liam in the Dust rallied to be second last out losing to the likely favorite in here by over 5-lengths. Filly gets an upgrade in the jockey department and should appreciate this mile and an eighth distance today. Win Contender
  • 1 Muhimma has won her first two races by a combined 13-lengths. She faces the acid test today as she moves up the class ladder and routes for the first time. This 700k purchase just might be that good but at 4-5 morning line, I’ll try to beat her. Win Contender

Selections 10-2-1-8

Aqueduct Race 9 Cigar Mile Stakes Grade 2

  • 11 Post Time was last seen finishing a fast closing second in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. This Brittany Russell trainee has never finished worse than third in 14 Lifetime starts, while sporting an incredible 9 trips to the winners circle. Colt is proven at multiple venues, has been training lights out and shows the quickest late pace numbers of this group. Top Pick
  • 1 Book’em Dano is one of my favorite horses in training right now, but he draws in here with a terrible post. This Gelding can definitely win this race but Irad will have to work out a trip and have a bit of luck. Win Contender
  • 5 Mullikin had reeled 4 straight victories while sprinting before finishing a good third in the Breeders Cup Sprint. This 4 year old should love this one turn mile here at the Big A. If this Colt can set some moderate fractions upfront early, he’ll have the potential to win this on the front end. Win Contender
