Earthquakes Hope To Win Game 2 For Coach Leitch
The San Jose Earthquakes advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Seattle Sounders FC by the score of 2-1 last Wednesday. This was an important game not only for advancing in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup but also for the fact that this was Chris Leitch’s first game as head coach. That was the first time San Jose has beat the Sounders in US Open Cup play since they joined the league in 2009. The Earthquakes are now 1-2 in MLS play and 2-3 all time against the Sounders. The Earthquakes will now try to defeat the Galaxy to advance to the semifinals of the US Open Cup.
Galaxy Will Finally Get Some Rest After Playing 7 Games In 21 Days
The LA Galaxy will be shooting for the second straight berth to the US Open Cup Semifinals on Monday night. The Galaxy have advanced to the quarterfinals in the last 3 seasons after beating the Sacramento Republic by the score of 2-0.
The Galaxy have been busy. They played a stretch of 7 games in 21 days, which is a ton of soccer. The Galaxy, for whatever unknown reason, had lost 5 of their 9 home games, which is unheard of. They will be on the road and that makes Coach Curt Onalfo happy.
This team has been depleted of injuries and call ups for the National Team but they still should be able to contend, as the last game they had the lead late in the match on July 1 but simply couldn’t hold the lead to finish strong. After this game, the Galaxy will not play again until July 19, which will give them plenty of time to get guys healthy.
San Jose Wins Again
The Galaxy are a injured and tired team. As we stated earlier, they have played 7 games in 21 days and faced this same Earthquake team 2 times since the end of May. I think the time off will do them some good to get healthy but that won’t help them tonight in San Jose. I got San Jose winning this game.
Pick: San Jose -132 for 2 Units
