The Miami Dolphins will travel to Carson, California on Sunday evening to take on the LA Chargers. The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:05 PM ET from the StubHub Center.
The Dolphins and Chargers have played each other 10 times since 2002. In those 10 games, the Dolphins have won 7 out of 10 SU and ATS, while playing under the posted total in 9 out of 10 games. The only game to play over the posted total was last year’s 31-24 Miami win.
Dolphins Play First Game Of The Year
The Miami Dolphins will finally get to step on the field in a live game on Sunday after missing last week’s game from Hurricane Irma.
The Dolphins were scheduled to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week but due to the hurricane, the game needed to be postponed. They will now be taking the long road through the rest of the year playing 16 games straight without a bye week.
The Dolphins requested that the NFL considered moving their game in 2 weeks from the scheduled London location to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida but the NFL quickly dismissed the request. They will now prepare for the Chargers who will be coming in off a short week.
When the Dolphins take the field on Sunday, they will do it with QB Jay Cutler. Cutler will have an arsenal of weapons at his disposal in WR’s Kenny Stills, Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and TE Julius Thomas. To make things a little easier on Cutler, he will have jay Ajayi coming out of the backfield and is always a threat to run one back.
Chargers Play First Game In New Stadium/New City
The LA Chargers are coming in off a Monday Night loss to the Denver Broncos by the score 24-21. The Chargers were down by 17 late in the 4th quarter but came back and gave the game winning shot to rookie kicker Younghoe Koo. Koo came in to kick his first ever career field goal attempt but was blocked by Shelby Harris of the Broncos. With the blocked FG, Chargers lost the game 24-21.
Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 22/33 for 192 yards with 3 touchdowns and an INT. RB Melvin Gordon carried the ball 18 times for 54 yards. Rivers spread the ball out on Monday Night, hitting all 6 receivers multiple times and hitting Travis Benjamin, Keenan Allen and Melvin Gordon for touchdowns.
The Chargers will now travel back home and open their new stadium in their new city. I can tell you that in writing this article, I wrote San Diego numerous times and had to correct it before publishing the article. The San Diego Chargers are now the LA Chargers and will play their games at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Chargers Get Win In New Stadium
The Chargers will welcome Jay Cutler and the Dolphins in to the StubHub Center on Sunday. The Dolphins had a extra week to prepare with Jay Cutler but the reality is Cutler is Cutler and you get what you pay for. With the Bears, he threw INT after INT and cost the Bears plenty of games.
Now, he will face a tough Chargers defense that should be able to contain Cutler and force some turnovers. I am looking for Rivers to have a big game against the Dolphins secondary. This will be a 1.5 Unit play on the San Diego…I mean LA Chargers!
