Games 1 and 3 were absolutely dominant victories for Brett Brown and his 76ers, while Miami pulled out a close win in game 2. The winner of tonight’s game will position themselves very well with a chance to win the series.
Home court didn’t seem to matter to the Heat as they couldn’t put it together down the stretch of game 3 after keeping it close for three quarters. Philly has been winning in every NBA arena over the past 6 weeks, as they look to continue that. They are listed as -153 favorites in most sportsbooks if you are looking to bet on them today.
Philadelphia 76ers (Up 2-1)
It seems that this team goes as Ben Simmons and the shooters go. When JJ Redick, Marco Belinelli, and Ersan Ilyasova are hitting their jumpers, they are nearly impossible to stop. Adding Joel Embiid to the lineup last game made them even better and that was apparent. He kept getting Miami players into foul trouble, and he abused Hassan Whiteside in the paint.
In order to go up 3 games to 1, Philly will need Embiid to get off to a strong start. Ben Simmons is going to have to attack the paint and do what he does with distributing. Markelle Fultz has been a complete nonfactor but they may need him to play some good minutes and spare Simmons.
Miami Heat (Down 1-2)
The Miami Heat have been in every playoff predicament possible over the course of the D-Wade tenure, and trailing 2-1 is nothing new for them. This is a team that is stacked with a mix of veterans and young pieces that play well together. Justise Winslow’s disappearing act in the second half after dominating the first sure didn’t help.
In order to tie the series, Miami will need D–Wade to play well. They lost both games by large margins when he struggled, but when he was hot in game 2, they came out on top. James Johnson has to avoid foul trouble and deliver a strong performance while Josh Richardson is the dominant 2-way player he is. It will take a lot, but they can do it.
Miami gets the W
I’m picking the underdog Miami Heat to win this game on their home floor to even the series. I see them getting off to a strong start led by Goran Dragic and Josh Richardson, and this is going to set the tone for the whole game.
The +143 underdogs in most sportsbooks will be doing the winning in this game. Ladies and gentleman, we have got a tied series!
Bet the Heat over the 76ers!
