Quick Pick: Philadelphia vs. Baltimore Under 9 Runs
The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the Baltimore Orioles on July Thursday, July 12, 2018, in an Interleague matchup in the MLB. This game is being played at Orioles Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland with the first pitch scheduled to take place at 6:05 PM ET. The weather in Baltimore, MD is expected to be hot and humid on Thursday evening. The temps are expected to be in the upper 80’s with high humidity.
The Phillies and the Orioles have already played each other in two series this year, however, the first series only consisted of 1 game. In the first game, back on May 16, the Phillies beat the O’s 4-1. In the second series, the Phillies took the two games from the Orioles by the score 4-1 and 3-2. The Phillies have now won all 3 games against the Orioles and will look to wrap up this one game series on Thursday against the O’s before heading off for a three-game series in Miami.
Phillies Pitching Keeping Them In Games
The Philadelphia Phillies have taken over first place in the National League East Division. The Phillies have won 8 of their last 10 games and come into this game with a one-game lead over the Atlanta Braves for the top spot in the division. The Phillies have been winning games with their superb pitching. They haven’t allowed more than four runs in their last 5 games and have only allowed 5 runs once in the last 10 games.
The Phillies will send Nick Pivetta to the mound on Thursday Night. Pivetta is 5-7 on the year with a 4.62 ERA. Pivetta only lasted 2.2 innings in his last start, giving up five hits and a earned run against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pivetta did not factor into the decision in that game as the Phillies came back late in the game.
Pivetta faced the Orioles once already this year, going seven innings and giving up just two hits and one earned run in the 4-1 win for the Phillies. Pivetta complete shut down the Orioles at Orioles Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. He will look to improve his Interleague record on the year Thursday Night when he faced the Orioles.
Orioles Are A Bad Team!
The Baltimore Orioles are in the last place in the American League East Division and are without a doubt one of the worst teams in baseball. Their pitching is getting pounded on a nightly basis and their lineup is failing to produce any type of offense. The O’s lineup is hitting .228 in the American League, which ranks them as the worst team in the American League and they have scored just 330 runs, which is the second worst in the AL.
Kevin Gausman will make his 19th start of the year for the Orioles on Thursday Evening. Gausman is 4-6 on the year with a 4.11 ERA. Gausman failed to factor into the decision in his last start, going five innings and giving up just five hits and three earned runs against the Minnesota Twins. Gausman will look to get one step closer to .500 on the year when he takes on the Phillies on Thursday.
Philadelphia And Baltimore Play Low Scoring Game
The Philadelphia Phillies have shut down the O’s in all three games they have played and all three of those games have played under the posted total. The O’s really have nothing that can stop the Phillies, other than Kevin Gausman, who has the potential to pitch well in this game. I think we are looking at a low scoring game, like 3-2 or 4-3. Bookmaker has set the line at 9 runs and I don’t think it gets anywhere near that number. I will play this game under for 3 units.
