The Baltimore Orioles will host the Tampa Bay Rays for the second game of this three-game series. Both teams find themselves at .500 early on in this shortened season, meaning one team will walk away from this game above .500 and one team below .500.
The Orioles have had a successful 2-1 series win over the Boston Red Sox, but had their season interrupted when several Marlins players tested positive for COVID-19. That led to a two-game series against the Yankees that ended with zero wins, before winning their series opener against Tampa.
On the other hand, Tampa opened their season with a 2-1 series win over the Toronto Blue Jays and then won the first two games of their series against the Braves. Unfortunately, they lost the final two games of that series and the first game of this series against Baltimore.
Tampa Bay Rays Looking for 5th Win of Season
The Tampa Bay Rays (4-4) are searching for their fifth win of the season, but will have to get over the hump of losing three-straight. They’ve been outscored 15-8 over that span and can’t afford to lose another one. They need to win these next two against Baltimore.
They’ll have Tyler Glasnow on the mound to start the game on Saturday. He pitched well in his first start of the season, lasting 4.0 innings, striking out nine players, and only allowing one earned run. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to pull away with the win, so he’ll be looking for his first of the season.
Baltimore Orioles Looking to Take Control of Series
The Baltimore Orioles’ victory yesterday marked their first victory in the first game of a series this season — after losing the series openers against the Red Sox and Yankees. They’ve been sharing the action on the offensive end, with Hanser Alberto, Rio Ruiz, and Anthony Santander all having wonderful starts to the season.
The Orioles have chosen Wade LeBlanc as their starting pitcher for Saturday. He pitched 5.2 innings in his first start of the season, allowing four runs and striking out four. He, unlike Tyler Glasnow, was able to come out with the victory and will be looking to start the season 2-0 against the Rays.
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Baltimore Orioles Betting Lines
The Rays will be looking for revenge in this one as they face a possible four-game losing streak. If you wanted to bet on that, BetOnline has the Tampa Bay Rays (-210) with the 1.5-run advantage over the Baltimore Orioles (+192). They also have the over/under listed at nine runs.
What’s Our Pick?
The Rays haven’t been getting it done lately, despite the sportsbooks giving them the edge in the second game of this series. They’ll need a good start from Glasnow if they want to do that, but I don’t think they’re going to get that hot start from him.
I see the Orioles winning their second game in a row on Saturday, but I think it will be close. I have the final score at 4-2 in favor of the Orioles and think they’ll get a big day from Anthony Santander.
