ALDS Game 4 Betting Preview: Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros

by Spooky Express | October 12, 2021 |

The Chicago White Sox were able to fend off elimination at least for a day as they finally got on the board in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.

The White Sox’s offense came alive Sunday to the tune of 12 runs and 16 hits in the 12-6 victory over the Houston Astros to cut their deficit in the series to 2-1.

The Astros jumped out to a 5-1 lead before Chicago scored five runs of their own in the third inning and followed up with three more in the fourth to take the lead for good.

Houston Astros Betting Preview: Win and Advance

The Houston Astros come into Game 4 with a two games to one lead, and they are still in the driver’s seat. Game 3 did not go their way, but they still just have to win one game, and they will advance to play either Boston or Tampa Bay.

Houston came out of the gate swinging Sunday with six runs in the first four innings, but their offense sputtered after that, getting shut out for the remainder of the game.

In Game 4, manager Dusty Baker will send right-hander Jose Urquidy to the mound to try and secure a berth in the American League Championship Series. Urquidy has not pitched in eight days, so his arm should be fresh. Urquidy had a record of 8-3 with a 3.62 ERA in the regular season.

In 107 innings, Urquidy struck out 90 hitters, walked 19, and allowed 17 home runs. In his previous outing, he went six innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out three and walked one in a 7-6 victory over Oakland.

Offensively, the Astros are hitting .265 in the series as a team. They have been led by third baseman Alex Bregman, who is hitting .455 in the series. Right fielder Kyle Tucker has hit two home runs and has driven in seven runs for the Astros in the series.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview: Another Do or Die Situation

The Chicago White Sox come into play Monday with renewed confidence after the offense came alive in Game 3. Chicago once again has to win to remain in the series, but now the task does not seem as daunting as it did 24 hours ago. The focus of the White Sox will be to just get the series back to Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Manager Tony La Russa will send lefthander Carlos Rodon to the mound in Game 4. Rodon has not pitched in 13 days, so keep an eye out for early rust to be knocked off. Rodon went 13-5 with a 2.37 ERA in the regular season. In 132.2 innings, he struck out 185 hitters, walked 36, and allowed 13 home runs. In his previous outing, Rodon went five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. He struck out four and walked two in a 6-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

Offensively, the White Sox are hitting .312 as a team in the postseason. They have been led by center fielder Luis Robert, who is hitting .500 in the series. Leurys Garcia and Yasmani Grandal each have a home run and four RBI in the series.
