The LA Dodgers will host the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday Night, October 16, 2018, in Game 4 of the NLCS.
The Brewers took a 2-1 lead in the series on Monday Night, beating the Dodgers by the score of 4-0.
The Dodgers will be looking to even the series up at home in Game 4 on Tuesday Night!
Let's take a look at both teams for the NLCS Game 4 of the NLCS.
This game is being played at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, California with the first pitch scheduled to take place at 9:09 PM ET. This game is being televised on FS1.
Bookmaker has set the money line for this game at LA Dodgers -150 and Milwaukee Brewers +130 and total for Over/Under plays at 7.5 runs.
The Milwaukee Brewers used effective pitching on Monday Night to take the 2-1 series lead over LA. Jhoulys Chacin and the Brewers bullpen combined to throw a 5 hit shutout in Game 3 for the win.
The Brewers will now send Gio Gonzalez to the mound for the Game 4 start. Gio started Game 1 of the NLCS but only lasted 2 innings, giving up a home run to Manny Machado in the 2nd inning before being replaced by Brandon Woodruff, who got the win for the Brewers. Since Gio only pitched 2 innings, they will roll with him on just 3 days rest.
This will be just the second time this year that Gonzalez has faced the Dodgers lineup. Gio will be looking for a better outcome than the first outing.
Gio was 10-11 in the regular season, split between the Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals. Gio carried a 4.21 ERA throughout the regular season and pitched in 171 innings.
The LA Dodgers have their backs against the wall and must stop the Brewers from going up 3-1 in the series. The Dodgers will play here at home tonight, Tuesday, and then again on Wednesday before traveling back to Milwaukee for games 6 & 7 of the NLCS.
The Dodgers had the best offensive lineup in the National League during the regular season but the Brewers pitching staff has found a way to be successful against them holding them to 9 runs in 3 innings.
On Tuesday, the Dodgers will turn to Rich Hill for the start. Hill was 11-5 overall with a 3.66 ERA in the regular season.
Hill has gone 1-2 overall with a 3.55 ERA in 9 postseason starts over the course of his career. Hill didn’t factor into the decision in his only 2018 postseason appearance, going 4.1 innings and allowing 2 runs to the Atlanta Braves.
Dodgers Even Series at 2-2
I can’t see the Dodgers going down 3-1 here in the series. They hit Gio Gonzalez hard in the first matchup and I think we will see much of the same here in game 4. This lineup is potent and all though I think the Brewers have the overall better bullpen, in this particular matchup, I think the Dodgers hold the edge.
The Dodgers are very strong against left-handed pitching, going 41-17 in their last 58 games at Dodgers Stadium against lefties. Additionally, they are 4-0 against teams from the NL Central with Hill on the mound.
I expect the Dodgers to roll big in this one! This will be a 2.5 unit play on the LA Dodgers.
