NLCS Game 5 Preview: New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
The LA Dodgers will be looking to close out the National League championship series on Friday evening when they take on the New York Mets in the NLCS Game 5. The Mets fell to the Dodgers 10 – 2 on Thursday night and now find themselves backed against the wall and on the brink of elimination from the postseason.
Game five of the National League championship series will occur at Citi Field in Flushing, New York, in front of the New York Mets faithful.
Los Angeles Dodgers Preview
The Dodgers’ bats have come alive in the postseason, as we saw last night. They put up twelve hits in 10 runs, led by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, both of whom hit home runs in the game.
The Dodgers will have their trade-line acquisition, Jack Flaherty, on the mound for them in Game 5. He pitched a magnificent game last time out, going 7 innings and only allowing two hits with no earned runs. That was the first time he had faced the Mets this year, and they had no answer for him.
New York Mets Preview
The Mets struggled last night, not at the plate but getting runners home. They had 10 hits last night, just too shy of the Dodgers, but they were only able to score 2 runners. The Mets bats have stayed hot since the regular season, but they must find a way to score more runs and to stop leaving these base runners out there.
The Mets will send David Peterson to the mound on Friday evening to get the start. We have seen Peterson on the mound four times in the postseason, and for the most part, he’s pitched very well. In his first three starts, which were against the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies, he did not allow a run over 6.1 innings split over three games.
Unfortunately for Metz, in his last appearance, he gave up four hits and three runs as the starter in a 9 – 0 loss to the same LA Dodgers team.

Now, on to today’s free play. The Dodgers were absolutely crushing the ball at the plate. They put up 12 hits last night for 10 runs, and it doesn’t matter who you put in front of them; they’re making contact with the bat.
The team total for this game is only 3 1/2 runs, and we have them cash by the 6th inning. Unless the Mets get the poor rabbit out of their head, the Dodgers will get their runs, and we predict they will score over 3 1/2 runs today. Give us the LA Dodgers over 3 1/2 runs in the NLCS Game 5.
