Titan FC 44 takes place on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 7:00 PM ET from the Pembroke Pines City Center in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Let me start by saying if you live in the Pembroke Pines, Florida area, make sure you check out this event. Mr Jeff Aronson and Mr Lex McMahon do an amazing job with matchmaking their fight cards and the environment at a Titan FC event is as close as you will get to attend a UFC event live at the regional level!

Farkhad Sharipov vs. Jose Torres

The first fight to look at is for the Titan FC Bantamweight Title between Farkhad Sharipov and Jose Torres. Sharipov is 17-7 and is a winner of back to back fights. He is the current Titan FC Bantamweight Champion. Sharipov defeated Andrew Whitney in his last fight by unanimous decision. The fight prior to that, he defeated Bruce Lutchmedial at Titan FC 40 in a split decision fight that could've gone either way. Sharipov is a 3 fight Bellator veteran who comprised a record of 1-2 in the promotion. He is now 2-0 while fighting for Titan FC.

Sharipov will take on Jose Torres, who many of you will remember that I have taken his last 2 fights. Torres, in my opinion, is one of the most promising up and coming flyweights, who will be moving up to contend for the Titan FC Bantamweight Title and if he wins, this could very well be the last time we see him fight on the regional level. Torres is already the Titan FC Flyweight Champ and now will be making a jump to contend a weight class up. He has beat everyone that promoters have put in front of him. He is 4-0 as a pro and had a 13-0 record as an amateur. Torres has shown KO power in his hands and isn’t afraid to go to the ground either. This kid is legit and as I said earlier, one of the top prospects to the UFC currently on the regional level.

Do not think too much into this….Jose Torres will win this fight. He may only have a limited amount of pro fights but he is established with amateur fights and the kid is a threat to anyone on the regional level. Sharipov is a decent fighter but he falters when he faces stiff competition. I will take Torres as a 3 unit play here!

Pick: Jose Torres -268 for 3 Units

Robert Turnquest vs. Marc Stevens

The next fight I’m interested in is the Welterweight Fight between Robert Turnquest and Marc Stevens. Turnquest is coming into this fight off a 3 round unanimous decision loss to Gesias Cavalcante at Titan FC 42. Turnquest has lost 3 out of his last 6 fights, 2 in the lightweight division and 1 in the welterweight division. The 34-year-old has a record of 7-3 overall and trains out of The Academy of Pensacola.

Marc Stevens is someone I am very familiar with as he fought for me on the regional level two times. He has won 5 out of his last 6 fights and his 2 losses come at 155lbs, which I attribute to the weight cut. When Marc Stevens doesn’t have to cut weight, he is tough to beat. He was a competitor on the Ultimate Fighter Season 12 and has fought some of the bigger names in MMA on the regional circuit such as George Sullivan, Paul Felder, Luis Palomino, John Cholish, Luis Felix and Billy Quarantillo.

Stevens will be making his Titan FC debut and I expect an impressive performance from him on Friday night. Stevens can be hard to plan for because he is tough on the ground and also has decent hands. I will be playing Marc Stevens for 2 Units.

Pick: Marc Stevens -185 for 2 Units
