PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants Preview

PFL Super Fights

This Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:30 PM Eastern time, the PFL will host their PFL Super Fights Pay-Per-View Battle of the Giants from the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia.

Francis NGannou vs. Renan Ferreira

This fight card features the return of Francis Ngannou, who will be taking on Renan Ferreira and scheduled for five, five-minute rounds for the PFL heavyweight super fights championship. The last time we saw Francis Ngannou inside a cage was in the UFC on January 22, 2022.

Since then, he has had two boxing matches, one against Tyson, fury and another against Anthony Joshua. He lost both fights over the past two years and now looks to move forward inside the cage.

His opponent here is no slouch, especially at PFL. Ferrera has beaten everyone they’ve put in front of him except Ante Delija.

We think it’s absurd that the oddsmakers have made NGannou a -260 favorite. While we agree he should be the favorite, it should not be this large against someone like Ferreira.

This fight has to be a dog or pass situation, as you don’t want to waste your money and play someone for this long outside the cage.

Larissa Pacheco vs. Cris Cyborg

The co-main event on Saturday at PFL Super Fights will feature the legend, Cris Cyborg, stepping back into the cage to take on Larissa Pacheco in a five-round PFL featherweight super-fight championship.

Cyborg is always fun to watch, but she is facing the clock at 39 years old, and as we all know, Father Time never loses a battle. Her illustrious career will soon end, but does she still have one more knockout finish in her toolbox?

We have not seen Cyborg inside a cage since October 7, 2023, when she was with Bellator. In that fight, she KO’d Cat Zingano in the first round.

While she hasn’t been in the octagon or cage per se, she has been staying active with two boxing matches, both of which she won in the first and second rounds.

She will have her hands complete with Larissa Pacheco, who is riding a 10-fight win streak. The former UFC veteran only had two losses inside the PFL cage, both against UFC bantamweight Kayla Harrison.

This should be a great fight, and we’re getting some great odds on it. Pacheco is the favorite at -145, and Cyborg’s return is +125.

Our free play from PFL Super Fights is going to come from the Cyborg vs. Pacheco fight and we are going to take the under 3.5 rounds. Both of these ladies are going in swinging and someone is going to get clipped.

Because this is a title fight, we get three rounds plus a half-round to get this fight over with. It’s not much value, if I’m being honest, but I just don’t see this fight going over 3.5 rounds here.
