Orlando has already clinched a playoff spot by winning their division title. They are currently tied for the 6/7 seed with Brooklyn in the east. What a great race for the backend spots for the postseason. Orlando could move up to the number 6 spot if things fall into place for them.
Orlando is scoring 107.1 ppg while giving up 106.5 points per game. Their 107.1 ppg has them ranked only 24th in the league. What Orlando lacks in offense they make up with their defense. They are ranked 5th in the league in points allowed per game.
Sort of surprising they are only 41-40 with that kind of defense. Nikola Vucevic is the teams leading scorer with 20.8 ppg and rebounder with 12.0 boards per game. Aaron Gordon & Evan Fournier are chipping in 15 points each per game. DJ Augustin leads the team in assists with 5.3 dishes per game.
The Hornets are certainly playing their best ball at the right time winning four in a row and 8 of 11. Charlotte is currently 9th one game back of Detroit for the final playoff spot in the east, but they hold the tiebreaker over Detroit. So it comes down to this……Charlotte must win tonight, while Detroit loses at the Knicks. The 8th seed is the best they can do, but they will need the last placed Knicks to pull the upset on Wednesday night.
Charlotte is scoring 110.5 ppg while giving up 111.9 points per game. That offensive output has them ranked 20th in the NBA this season. Charlotte when it comes to points allowed per game in ranked in the middle of the pack at 17th.
Kemba Walker with 25.5 points per game & 5.9 assists per game leads the team in both points scored and assists per game. While Cody Zeller leads in rebounds with 6.8 per game, but he is out with an injury but not to worry as 4 other players average 5+ boards a game.

Success continues for Charlotte vs Orlando
Don’t let Orlando’s 41-40 record fool you. Since January 31st they are 21-9 thanks to their stingy defense. But they are already in. They are playing at Charlotte who has owned them especially at home and who needs this game more. Charlotte is playing great basketball right now and there is no reason to think it will stop in a game of this importance tonight. Everything points to Charlotte for me in this one.
