NBA Postseason Game 4 Betting Preview: Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns – Sunday, June 13, 2021

by Spooky Express | June 13, 2021 |

The Phoenix Suns are on the road to face the Denver Nuggets on Sunday evening in Game 4 of the second round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs. The Phoenix Suns are cruising through this series as they hold a 3-0 lead. Denver is looking to avoid being swept and earn a win after being outplayed in the previous three games.

Phoenix Suns Betting Preview: One win earns a trip to the Conference Finals

The Phoenix Suns are one win away from the Western Conference Finals, which has not been done since the Steve Nash and Mike D'antoni days. Supplied by a balanced team attack and led by veteran “point god” Chris Paul, this team has everything clicking, with all starters scoring in double figures through their three games.

The defense has been the turnaround as they have held the Nuggets to just 43% shooting in the series.

In his first playoff stint, Devin Booker was really good against the Lakers, leading the way for the team while Paul nursed an injured shoulder, and things haven't slowed down for him either. In the three games against the Nuggets, Booker is averaging 22.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He exploded in a close-out game six against the Lakers, and we should expect another explosion in game 4.

The big man in the middle, Deandre Ayton, has played some good basketball as the two-year big man has done a fantastic job keeping the league's MVP fairly quiet. Ayton is averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds during the series. 3 and D wing Mikal Bridges is chipping in 16.7 points and contributing on the defensive side of the ball.

Denver Nuggets Betting Preview: MVP Nikola Jokic and Denver looking to avoid sweep.

If you remember the bubble from last year's playoff run, the Nuggets were able to fight their way back on different occasions from 3-1 deficits, but it's a 3-0 deficit and a roster that is missing their second-best player and missing contributions from players.

Second-half woes have continued through this series as through the first three games; it's been all about the third-quarter charge for the Suns and Denver not being able to adjust and counter.

Despite Nikola Jokic's play and coming off a 30 point triple-double, this team still continues to struggle to get any help outside of him. Michael Porter Jr has really struggled, and Will Barton just returned from an injury, and while it's nice having him back in the lineup, he needs time to get loose even while time is running out on them.

Jamal Murray has been out since the mid-way point of the season with a knee injury, and in his absence, many expected Porter Jr to step up, but that hasn't been the case. He is only averaging 13.7 points, and Aaron Gordon has been a non-factor coming off a 4 point outing in game three. The Nuggets have been looking for any kind of spark, and they got it from Monte Morris, who had 21 points off the bench, but it wasn't enough as this team was blown out for the third time.

Suns vs. Nuggets Betting Lines & Odds

Mybookie has the Phoenix Suns as -3 point road favorites with the over/under set at 222 for game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

I don't think a chance of being swept is what the league MVP had in mind, but the Suns have completely dominated this series so far. Head Coach Monty Williams has thrown the farm at Jokic forcing other guys to step, but that has yet to happen, and once they are able to contain Jokic, the offense becomes stagnant.

The Suns are one of the deeper teams in the NBA and have multiple bucket getters that they can throw on the floor. Denver hasn't been good on the defensive end, and that has led to this lopsided box score. We can expect Jokic to have another MVP performance, but Devin Booker in his first closeout game was unreal, and it's safe to say the Sun's close this series in four.

Even with Jamal Murray being 100%, it's hard to think he would make much of a difference in this series. Phoenix is on a mission and has the roster in place to win a championship. Monty Williams has become one of the more underrated coaches, and thanks to his great adjustments, he has his team sitting pretty up 3-0. The MVP has gotten very little help from his supporting cast, and while you'd think they would be able to get at least one game, this series is over.

Phoenix is ready to finish this series and get some rest while they wait for the winner of the Jazz and Clippers. I will give this game the Charles Barkley GUARANTEE for the Suns -3.
