Another exciting game 7 that will feature a team without a star player. The Rockets will try to advance to their first Finals since 1995 as they play without Chris Paul.
The Warriors, listed as –6 favorites, will try and win on the road and get to a fourth consecutive NBA Finals matchup with their rival Cleveland Cavaliers.
Golden State Warriors
Things could be not be looking better for the Warriors. They come into game 7 off a dominant game 6 win on their home floor, a game in which they exposed the Paul-less Rockets over the final three quarters of the game. They got roasted early before pioneering an early comeback, leading to a 29-point win. They are still without Andre Iguodala, but they sure do have a chance. The Splash Brothers are both locked in now and their offense will prove vital to the success of the team.
In order to win tonight, offense is going to be a major key for this team. Whether or not Chris Paul is in the lineup, they will need to score a lot. They dropped 115 last game, and really, 105 should be their magic number. KD needs to not take as many shots out of the isolation, but share the rock more. They have to slow down James Harden without a doubt, as the team will go as he does. Golden State knows a thing or two about winning big games on the road.
Things are not looking up for Houston right now, but they are still in position to advance. Because they were able to hold on and close out game 5, they are in a spot where they are a win away from the NBA Finals. The win or go home game will take place on their home floor in front of their roaring fans. Whether or not Chris Paul suits up, it will be noisy and against Golden State for 48 minutes.
In order to win game 7, they have to get their offense going early and sustain it. James Harden cannot go cold, and will need to be in attack mode. There is nothing to conserve with everything on the line, and he needs to play at 150% all night. If CP3 is in the lineup, they will need to try and mask him defensively because of his hamstring, but on offense, he can take pressure off. Offense from Eric Gordon is going to be more important than ever.
Rockets move on!
Whether or not CP3 suits up, the +215 underdogs will get it done. James Harden is going to show how good he can be at his absolute best.
They will not bow down, and or succumb to the pressure of Golden State’s high-powered defense.
Kevin Durant will struggle in the game’s big moments, as the splash bros will not have enough help.
