The New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have played two of their three games against each other this season, with each team taking one win. Oddly enough, the away team has won each time as the Knicks prepare to host the Pacers on Friday night.
Their last meeting was on February 1st when the Knicks squeaked out a 92-85 victory behind Marcus Morris’ 28 points. Unfortunately, he is no longer with the team and has since been traded to the Clippers. I wouldn’t count them out too soon because even their loss in the first meeting was just by 1 point.
The Knicks have fared well against the Pacers this season, something not many teams can say. With T.J. Warren questionable to play, there’s a chance he doesn’t suit up. If not, the Knicks will have to take full advantage of them missing one of their stars.
Indiana Pacers Need Some Momentum
The Indiana Pacers had an ideal end to their first wave of the NBA season. They walked into the All-Star break following a 118-111 victory over the best team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a game that effectively ended their 6-game losing streak.
For a team that has prided themselves on defense all year, that wasn’t the case during their 6-game losing streak. With that being said, at least they had over a week to figure it out and prepare for the final 27 games of the season. They’ll also have an opportunity to win their season series over the Knicks, a team that has been a pain in their side all year.
With a 32-23 record, they sit pretty with the No. 6 seed in the East. The next closest team is the Brooklyn Nets, who are 6.5 games behind Indiana and just lost Kyrie for the season. They should have no problem getting in the playoffs, but they’ll need to win games like this to get there.
Knicks Trying to End Season on Good Note
It has been an eventful season for the Knicks, but not for the right reasons. Dating back to the free agency and lottery, this team has been handed one problem after another. That led to a tumultuous start to the season and the firing of their head coach after just 1.5 seasons.
That bad luck followed them into the All-Star break as they are nursing a 2-game losing streak. They were involved in a double-overtime game against the Hawks that ended 140-135 and then lost to the Wizards 114-96.
It seemed like they were starting to turn a corner. Before this current losing streak, they had 4 wins in a row and two of them came against the Pacers and Magic. There’s definitely some talent on this team, they just need to figure it out.
Pacers / Knicks Betting Lines
If you were hoping to place a wager on this game, BetOnline has the Indiana Pacers (-220) with the 5.5-point advantage over the New York Knicks (+190). They are expecting an extremely low-scoring game with the over/under set at 211.5 total points.
Free Betting Pick
The Orlando Pacers are a dominant team defensively, while the New York Knicks are a terrible team on offense. I wouldn’t expect to see too much flash and highlights during this one, but it could turn out to be exciting for those that like close games.
If their first two games this season were any indication, this is setting up to be a good one. Tied at 1-1, there will only be one team walking out of this season series the champ. Will the Knicks come out strong or will the Pacers show who they really are?
I’ve got the Pacers winning and covering the spread 108-102, Indiana Pacers.
