Matchup at a Glance
When: Friday, February 8, 2019, at 10:00 PM EST
Where: Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California
Point Spread: Sacramento -2½
Betting Total: 219 points
Despite having a losing record, Miami is tied for first place with Charlotte in the Southeast division of the Eastern Conference.
Both of those teams are also tied for the 7th & 8th playoff spot in the conference. Golden St pretty much has the Pacific division wrapped up. Sacramento is in 3rd place 10½ games back.
Still battling for a playoff spot, Sacramento is in the ninth spot and trails the Clippers by 1½ games for the final spot. In the only meeting this season, Sacramento won in Miami 123-113 back on October 29th.
This game is being played at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California with the tip-off scheduled to take place at 10:00 PM EST.
BetOnline has set the point spread for this game at Sacramento -2½ and the over/under has been set at 219 points.
Miami last played on Tuesday at Portland. Portland was listed as a 7½ point favorite, but Miami must not have got the memo as they upset the Blazers 118-108. Miami is scoring 105.2 ppg while giving up 105.6 ppg. Offensively that ranks them 26th in the league in points scored. As poor as their offense is ranked, their defense has been great coming in at 3rd in the league in points allowed.
Josh Richardson leads the team in scoring with 17.3 ppg. Hassan Whiteside is the leading rebounder pulling down 12.4 a game. Goran Dragic leads the team in assists at 4.9 a game. Assist leader Goran Dragic will miss this game due to injury.
Despite the losing record, this team has a winning record on the road. Winning on the road in the NBA is tough to do. I cannot see Miami having much left in the tank after upsetting Portland on the road in their last game.
Sacramento on Wednesday played host to the Houston Rockets. Houston as a 3½ favorite dominated in an easy 127-101 win.
Sacramento is scoring 113.5 ppg while giving up 115.1 a game. That 113.5 points a game has them ranked all the way up to 8th in the league. Sacramento defensively in points allowed, are near the bottom coming in ranked 27th.
Buddy Hield at 20.4 ppg is the leader in scoring. Willie Cauley-Stein at 8.6 a game leads the team in rebounding. De’Aaron Fox is the leader in assists with 7.2 a game.
The Kings are starting to make a name for themselves. I have read all over the place how this is an up and coming team to watch out for.
- Sacramento is 8-1 ATS last 9 home games
- Sacramento is 6-1 ATS last 7 following a SU loss
- Sacramento is 13-3 ATS last 16 vs a winning team
- Miami is 2-5 ATS last 7
- Miami is 0-4 ATS last 4 Friday games
- Kings are 5-2 ATS last 7 in this series
- UNDER is 12-3-1 last 16 games
- OVER is 16-5 last 21 in this series
Sacramento simply the better team……especially at home
Most people seem to remember what is the freshest in their minds and quite often make their wager based on that. Well, most people do not win in the long run. Let’s see…. Miami with a big upset on the road and Sacramento gets pounded at home vs Houston. Sounds like the road team might be the right choice grabbing those points. I have to go against all of that.
For me this is simple. You have the team with the better record, the team from the better conference and the team with home-court advantage. Most of the trends favor Sacramento as well. The only thing in favor that I am seeing is Miami does play defense well. I just do not think they can give that kind of effort again like the previous game.
Those recent games explain to me why this line is so low. I feel like this line should be 5-7 points. I would think the Kings come into this one confident since they won at Miami earlier this season. I really like the home team in a game you are almost just asking them to win. I see a double-digit win for the Kings.
