Cincinnati Reds vs. Colorado Rockies

July 8, 2024

The reeling Cincinnati Reds will face the streaking Colorado Rockies in the opener of a three-game series starting Monday night inside Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. They toss out the first pitch at 7:10 p.m. Bookmaker has installed the Rockies as +165 on the ML.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

The Reds will look to snap a three-game losing streak with a win on Monday night. They are 3-3 over their last six games, and they can ill afford to fall further in the NL Central division. Every team is looking up at the Milwaukee Brewers, who are trying to run away with the division.

The Reds are trying to make a run here, and they need to start scoring more runs if they want to have a shot at any of the two wild-card berths in the National League. They are 10 games back of the Brewers and six games under .500 on the season.

Once they return to the .500 mark, they can start talking about making a run here and there. Third baseman Jeimer Canderlario has cracked 14 home runs and has had a surprising start to the season. He is batting .240 on the season and has driven in 40 runs, too. The Reds will toss out 25-year-old Andrew Abbott, who sports a mark of 8-6.

Colorado Rockies Betting Preview

The Rockies have had a rough season, and they have no hopes of making the playoffs. They are 20-plus games under .500 on the season. They are buried in last place in the NL West, but they have been able to put forth an honest effort over the last several weeks, winning some games here and there.

They are not climbing out of the cellar in the NL West, and they most likely might be sellers at the trade deadline, but they do believe they have a couple of players they can build around. Third baseman Ryan McMahon has had a solid season. He has clubbed 14 home runs and is on pace to surpass his career high of 24, which he hit back in 2019.

Colorado will send out Dakota Hudson, who has really struggled this season. He has a rough mark of 2-12 and an ERA of 5.84. He has dropped his last three starts and has been rocked in those games.

The Rockies may have to score at least seven runs in this one if they want to earn the win.
