Kansas City Royals vs. Texas Rangers

June 22, 2024

The Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers will play each other in Game 2 of a three-game weekend series on Saturday afternoon. The Royals will travel to Arlington, Texas, to face the Rangers at Globe Life Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM ET and will air on ESPN+, the MLB Network, Bally Sports Kansas City, and Bally Sports Southwest.

Kansas City Royals Team Preview

The Kansas City Royals have struggled in June. They have compiled a record of 7-11 this month while having lost four of their previous five games, including Friday's 2-6 loss in Game 1 of the series on the road against the Texas Rangers.

The Royals had a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the 6th inning before allowing five runs to fall behind 2-6 and didn't score another run in the game. Kyle Isbel accounted for one of the two runs for Kansas City after hitting a one-run home run in the 3rd inning. At the same time, Brady Singer had a solid outing after pitching five innings while allowing one run and striking out four batters but didn't factor into the decision.

Kansas City has lost three straight games in the series against Texas and has lost by an average margin of 5.33 runs per game in those contests. The Kansas City Royals will look to end their three-game losing streak in the series when they travel to face the Texas Rangers for Game 2 of the series.

Texas Rangers Team Preview

After ending their five-game losing streak with a 5-3 win in Game 3 of their series against the New York Mets, the Texas Rangers have won back-to-back games following a 6-2 victory in Game 1 of the series against the Kansas City Royals.

The win in Game 1 can be attributed to an explosive 6th inning at the plate as the Rangers would score five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, including Marcus Semien's double that resulted in three RBIs with Jonah Heim, Robbie Grossman, and Loedy Taveras being the ones who scored the three runs.

The Rangers remain five games below .500 this season after winning the 2023 World Series. Texas is in 3rd place in the AL West behind the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros and is tied for the 10th-best record in the American League at 35-40.

The Rangers have dominated the series against the Royals, winning three straight and eight of the last ten games and winning by an average margin of 3.6 runs per game in those meetings. The Texas Rangers will look to extend their winning streak this season to three games and four games when they host the Kansas City Royals for Game 2 of the series on Saturday afternoon.

Odds and Series Trends

JustBet has the Texas Rangers listed as -131 moneyline favorites at home against the Kansas City Royals for Game 2 of the series on Saturday afternoon. Texas has won eight of the previous ten meetings by an average margin of 3.6 runs per game, including three straight games in the series, with an average margin of 5.33 runs per game.

Game Pick

Kansas City has been one of the most surprising teams this season in the American League. They enter Game 2 against Texas with the 6th-best record, while Texas has been one of the most disappointing teams, tied for the fourth-worst record in the AL.

However, the Rangers have dominated the series against the Royals, winning eight of the last ten, including three straight matchups. They have also won by an average margin of 5.33 runs per game in the last three contests, which is why I am taking the moneyline for the Texas Rangers when they host the Kansas City Royals for Game 2 of the series on Saturday.
