The Arizona Cardinals need a bounce back in the biggest way following what is arguably the biggest upset of the NFL season in their 30-12 loss at Detroit last Sunday. Arizona is still in a good spot in the division and for the NFC playoffs, but you don’t want to string too many losses together to wind down the year.
The Indianapolis Colts are in a different situation, trying to avoid a letdown after beating a red-hot New England team 27-17 last week. Indianapolis still trails Tennessee by a game in the AFC South, and since they’ve been swept by the Titans this season, that’s even more of a hurdle to overcome to capture the division crown.
Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview: Colts a Dark Horse Contender
Indianapolis has turned it on since their 0-3 start to the season. Since that time, they have two overtime losses to Baltimore and Tennessee and have also fell 38-31 to the defending champion Buccaneers. A couple of different breaks here or there, and we could legitimately be talking about a team on an 11-game win streak ahead of their trip to the desert.
There aren’t a lot of weaknesses on this Colts squad, but their biggest strength is their rushing attack behind the emergence of RB Jonathan Taylor. The second-year player ran all over a good Patriots defense last week to the tune of 170 yards, the 5th time he’s gone for 100+ in the last six games.
Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview: What Just Happened?
Maybe the Cardinals got caught looking ahead to the Colts matchup or just flat out overlooking the Lions, but either way, last week’s loss was ugly. That was the kind of defeat that makes a team question if their 10-4 record was a fluke, but more importantly, it gives Indianapolis that much more confidence even on the road in the week 16 matchup.
Arizona was down 24-3 at one point Sunday, their second straight loss after falling 30-23 in a crucial division matchup the Monday night before. Kyler Murray has completed less than 65% of his passes in each of the last two games and has 1 TD to 3 INT on this mini-losing streak.
Colts vs. Cardinals Betting Odds & Lines
MyBookie has Arizona as an early -1 point favorite in a line that may have a lot of movement prior to kick-off. The loss to the Lions is going to leave a bad taste in a lot of bettors’ mouths, especially coupled with Indianapolis’ impressive outing against the Patriots in a nationally televised Saturday night game.

The public will be hammering the Colts here, but is it with good reason? Arizona is just 3-3 at home this season, while Indianapolis has been 4-2 on the road. Indianapolis’ running game is very impressive, and Taylor can make up for a poor outing from Carson Wentz like he did last week when the Colts QB was just 5/12 for 57 yards.
Hate to go with the majority here, but the Colts are just playing too good right now.
