NFL Betting Preview: Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers

by Spooky Express | October 12, 2021 |

New call-to-action

The Green Bay Packers will travel to Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon to take on the Chicago Bears in an NFC North battle.

The Packers are sitting atop the division with a 4-1 record this season and are coming off a 25-22 overtime road win against the Cincinnati Bengals. Aaron Rodgers had a good game as he finished going 27-of-39 for 344 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

The Bears are just a game behind Green Bay as they are 3-2 this year and are coming off a 20-9 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Justin Fields went 12-of-20 for 111 yards with a touchdown.

Green Bay Packers Betting Preview: Best Receiver in the Game

The Green Bay Packers love to get the football to wide receiver Davante Adams as he is leading the NFL with both 42 receptions and 579 yards (13.8 yards per catch) while adding a pair of touchdown receptions.

Looking at his previous game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Adams finished with 11 receptions on 16 targets for 206 yards (18.7 yards per catch) with a touchdown. If he can continue to showcase his ability to be the best around, it will do wonders for the Green Bay offense.

The Green Bay Packers have been a good defensive team this season as they are giving up 24.4 points per game this season. In their previous game against the Cincinnati Bengals, they allowed 22 points on 367 total yards of offense (264 passing, 103 rushing).

The Packers struggled to get stops on key downs as the Bengals went 5-of-14 on third down and converted on both fourth-down attempts. Green Bay needs to improve on stopping the run as Cincy finished with 4.3 yards per attempt. If they can sure up their defense, they will be able to hold onto the NFC North lead.

Chicago Bears Betting Preview: Mooney Taking Over for Robinson?

Wide receiver Darnell Mooney has been taking the ropes this season for the Chicago Bears as he has 20 receptions for 261 yards (13.1 yards per catch) without finding the end zone, as well as adding a 10-yard rushing attempt.

In their previous game against the Las Vegas Raiders, he finished with three catches on five targets for 35 yards (11.7 yards per reception). If the Bears can figure out how to get some passing yards his way, it will be a great chance to win at home here.

The Chicago Bears have been a pretty good defense this season as they are allowing 20 points per game this year. In their last game against the Las Vegas Raiders, they gave up just nine points on 259 total yards of offense (188 passing, 71 rushing).

They did a good job defensively of limiting plays as they allowed 4.3 yards per play. If the defense can continue to force field goals, they will be a difficult defense to take on.

Free Betting Pick

The Green Bay Packers have shown the ability to defeat good teams and should be able to hold onto Justin Fields as he is trying to figure out the NFL this season. David Montgomery is out as he is on Injured Reserve, so the running attack will be in the hands of Fields.

The Packers are scoring 24 points per game this year, while the Bears are scoring just 16.8 points. All in all, go with the road favorites to cover the spread here.
