New call-to-action

The Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) will take on the Detroit Lions (0-5) at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan for a week six matchup. The Bengals will look to rebound from an overtime loss to the Packers 25-22, while the Lions are still looking for their first win after dropping a heartbreaker to the Vikings 19-17.

Cincinnati Bengals Betting Preview: Bengals inconsistent in Loss to Packers

Last time out, the Bengals came up just short in a nailbiter against the Packers, taking them to overtime but losing on a Mason Crosby field goal. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase put on a show in Cincinnati connecting six times for 159 yards including a 70-yard touchdown.

The offense has been hot and cold so far in 2021, Joe Burrow finished strong connecting on 26 of his 38 passes for 281 yards but was also picked off twice. However, the offensive line was horrendous especially on third down allowing a ton of pressure and three sacks on Burrow. The offense couldn’t keep pace with Aaron Rogers as they didn’t convert on third down until the third quarter and were five of 14 on third-down conversions.

The defensive consistency needs to improve for Cincinnati to compete in the AFC North, the Bengals forced an early interception from Rogers but completely fell apart as the game went on. Aaron Rogers and Devante Adams put on their own show shredding the secondary for 206 yards. Additionally, the rushing defense didn’t fare much better conceding 133 yards and six yards per carry.

The special teams had a rough one last Sunday when kicker Evan Mcpherson missed two potential game-winning field goals. Mcpherson has now missed three of his last four kicks

Detroit Lions Betting Preview: Lions Suffer Another Heartbreaking Loss

The Lions suffered their third heartbreaker in the last four games, losing on a game-ending field goal for the third time. After scoring just six points in the first half, the Lions came out on fire forcing a fumble at the one-yard line, marching down the field scoring on a D’Andre Swift run, and converting a 2 point conversion to go ahead by one point with 30 seconds left.

Be that as it may, for the second time in three weeks the Lion got their heart broken. Dan Cambell said it best, “You want it for everybody, man. You've got to earn one. We’re this close. We haven’t done it,”

The defense fought hard all game limiting one of the hottest offenses to just 19 points. Cincinnati forced an interception, a late fumble, and put Kirk Cousins on the ground twice. The Lions continue to scratch and claw and are really close to victory. They’ll look to rebound against Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

The Bengals took the Packers to the brink and came up just short. The offense is starting to click more and more and the Burrow to Chase combination is lethal. However, the Lions are also close. I think the Lions are a little underrated, they have a solid quarterback, a good defense, they just haven’t been able to put it all together.

That being said, I think this is the game the Lions finally break out. The Bengals are banged up and Joe Burrow’s status for this game is uncertain. Dan Campbell is clearly passionate about his team and I think he rallies the troops to keep this game within a field goal and possibly win it outright. Give me the Lions.
