NFL Betting Preview: Cleveland Browns vs. Detroit Lions – Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021

by Spooky Express | November 15, 2021 |

The Detroit Lions will head to Cleveland to take on the Browns in this cross-conference matchup. The kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. eastern from the FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Lions are coming off one of the oddest endings in the NFL, a tie. Unable to hold onto a lead Sunday against the Steelers, the Lions were also unable to find the endzone in overtime while also not allowing the Steelers to score either.

The Browns were destroyed this week by the New England Patriots. Quarterback, Baker Mayfield, left the game with a right knee injury after a big hit.

Detroit Lions Betting Preview: A Step in the Right Direction

There is nothing great about tying unless, of course, the team has yet to win a game. That is what happened Sunday in Pittsburgh, as the Lions were unable to pull out the victory but did not have to take home another loss.

The Lions move to 0-8-1 and are still comfortably holding onto that last place in the NFL spot. At this point, the question has to start to arise, do they want to win or hold on to the number one pick in the draft.

The Lions quarterback, Jared Goff, had a very underwhelming day, considering there were five quarters of football played. He completed 14 of 25 pass attempts for 114 yards. D’Andre Swift, the Lions’ running back, had a massive game, carrying the ball 31 times for 130 yards.  The Lions ran the ball well collectively, combining for over 230 yards rushing as a team.

The Lions’ defense looked solid, even though they were going up against a backup in Mason Rudolph. With Roethlisberger moved to the COVID list, the Lions defense was licking their chops to get after Rudolph.

Unfortunately, there were no sacks, and the Lions only recorded one interception against a quarterback who threw the ball 50 times. Detroit will, more than likely, find itself in a similar situation this weekend if Mayfield can not go.

Cleveland Browns Betting Preview: What Happened on Sunday?

The Cleveland Browns were absolutely dismantled on Sunday by the Patriots and rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Coming into Week 10, the Browns had just put on a clinic against the high-powered offense of the Bengals, giving up just 10 points and scoring 41 of their own. The Browns could not do anything well on Sunday, and to only score, seven points has to make everyone in Ohio a little nervous.

The Cleveland offense scored in the first 10 minutes, taking a 7-0 lead, then got blanked the rest of the game. While the Mayfield injury looks to have been more of a stinger type, the Browns have some big decisions to make with their franchise quarterback.

The Browns rushed the ball for exactly 100 yards, with Duke Johnson accumulating 99 of them. Johnson also added 58 yards receiving to make him the only player on the team north of 100 yards from scrimmage.

The Browns’ defense might as well have just not been out there Sunday. Mac Jones, the rookie quarterback for the Patriots, just sliced them apart. He threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns on just 23 pass attempts. The Patriots also were able to rush the ball for over 180 yards against the Browns.

Get on this one fast! The Lions have not only a shot at covering this spread but at winning this game. The Browns showed their weaknesses this weekend at stopping the run, which is exactly what the Lions do well.

If Mayfield, for some reason, can’t play, the Browns are in a tough spot. The Browns are not great at home either; with a 3-2 record, this leaves the door open for the Lions.
