NFL Betting Preview: New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
Matchup at a Glance
When: Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at 8:20 PM
Where: AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas
Point Spread: Dallas Cowboys -3
Betting Total: 42
Quick Pick: Dallas Cowboys -3
The Dallas Cowboys won both matchups last year, beating the Giants 30-10 and 19-3.
Ironically, the year prior, the Giants were the ones who won both games in the season, by the score 10-7 and 20-19. Who will get the early edge in this year's battle? We will find out who takes the early lead on Sunday Night when these two face each other.
This game is being played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas with the kickoff scheduled to take place at 8:20 PM ET. The past 5 times the game has been played in Texas, the Cowboys have won 4 out of 5 games SU and gone 3-2 ATS.
Bookmaker has set the point spread for this game at Dallas Cowboys -3 and total for over/under plays at 42 points.
New York Giants
The New York Giants fought a close battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars and their “Saxonville” Defense last week, losing the game 20-15. The game played under the posted total, which happened to be the 8th time in 10 games overall, that the Giants have played under the posted total.
The Giants will look for their defense to step up in this divisional matchup and most of all contain Cowboys Running Back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott was pretty much the bulk of the offense last week for the Cowboys, carrying the ball 15 times for 69 yards and catching 3 passes for 17 yards.
All though they have to stop a good running back in Dallas, we can’t forget that the Giants have one of the top up-and-coming rookies in the league, with Saquon Barkley. Barkley ran for his first touchdown last week and will be looking to expose the Dallas defense on Sunday to control the ball and keep Dak Prescott off the field.
The Dallas Cowboys are fresh off a 16-8 loss at the hands of the Carolina Panthers. The Cowboys have now lost 5 games straight, including preseason. The Cowboys have really struggled on offense this year and are simply not moving the ball.
The one thing the Cowboys must do is provide better protection for QB Dak Prescott. Last week, Prescott was under pressure throughout the game and was sacked 6 times in the game.
The Cowboys must make sure that they are getting Prescott protection or the Giants are going to tee off on him again this week. Last week, New York kept the pressure on Jacksonville, which kept the scoring low. I think we will see that same type of game plan here against Dallas on Sunday Night.
Cowboys Win At Home
The Dallas Cowboys are a much better team than what we saw last week against Carolina. This week, I expect a much better offensive line and anticipate they will score some points. They are always a much tougher team at home than they are on the road and against the Giants, Dallas QB Dak Prescott has great games. Last year, he went off for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns, which was a career game! I am looking for the Cowboys to win this game by a bit more than a touchdown!
