2020 Seattle Seahawks Review

The Seattle Seahawks finished the 2020 season with a record of 12-4 and that was good enough to win the NFC West Division. Seattle looked like a Super Bowl contender to begin the season, but things fell apart a bit near the end of the season.

The Seahawks had an explosive passing attack for much of the season, the offensive line faltered near the end of the year. Seattle lost a Wild Card Round Playoff game the Los Angeles Rams, and it was a disappointing end to the season.

2021 Seahawks Offseason Additions

Defensive end Kerry Hyder and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon have both joined the Seahawks this offseason, and those players will have a positive impact on defense. Seattle was also able to sign tight end Gerald Everett, and he will be another weapon for Russell Wilson.

2021 Seahawks Offseason Departures

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin and defensive tackle Jarran Reed have both moved on from Seattle, and those two starters will be missed on the defensive side of the ball. The loss of Griffin could prove to be extremely costly in the secondary.

Running back Carlos Hyde signed a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars and he could be missed on the offensive side of the ball. Seattle was able to sign a number of their own free agents, saving themes.

Three Key Factors to a Winning Season

Protecting Wilson

Russell Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he needs some help. The Seahawks have not done a great job of protecting Wilson in recent seasons, and it is a miracle that he hadn’t gotten injured. Protecting Wilson has to be a top priority in 2021.

No Late Season Collapse

It seems as if the Seahawks always start off the season playing really well, but things start to turn around at the end of the year. Seattle needs to find a way to put together an entire season in 2021.

Bring Back Dominant Defense

Seattle no longer has the “Legion of Boom” and that defense hasn’t really been anything close in recent seasons. The Seahawks have had some impressive moments on defense in recent years, but that unit needs to start taking over a game.

Rating Their Schedule

Seattle will begin the year by facing the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans, two of the best teams in the AFC. A Week 6 trip to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers will be another big test early in the season.

Week 10 has the Seahawks in Green Bay to take on the Packers, and that will be another tough test. Outside of that, the NFC West is expected to be one of the toughest divisions in football this season, and those games will all be a challenge.

Expectations in 2021

Seattle should be the best team in the NFC West again this season, and it is hard to picture someone else winning the division. The Seahawks do have a difficult schedule in 2021, and that isn’t going to make things easy.

Look for Seattle to win at least 11 games, and that will be good enough for an NFC West title and a playoff berth. From there, the Seahawks will have to prove that they can beat the other top teams in the conference.
