AFC Wild Card Game Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos

AFC Wild Card Game Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos

There will be three games on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in the NFL’s postseason, starting it off at 1:00 PM with the final AFC Wild Card Game featuring the Buffalo Bills hosting the Denver Broncos.  This game will take place at the Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, New York

Kickoff is slated to take place at 1:00 PM and the game can be watched on CBS. The folks over at XBet have listed the Buffalo Bills at 8.5 point favorites with the total for the over/under being 47 points.

Buffalo Bills Preview

The Buffalo Bills enter this game as one of the best teams in the AFC. They were 13-4 SU and 10-7 ATS this season.  They enter the postseason with a record against playoff teams of 2-3.

Bills are led by QB Josh Allen. Allen has got this Buffalo offense rolling into the postseason. The Bills have scored 30 or more points in 12 of their 17 games this season!

Buffalo will try to slow down the hot hand of the Rookie QB Bo Nix. Buffalo’s defense has been hit or miss this year. There have been games when they hold teams to 10 points and then there are games when they allowed 42 points. They can not allow Denver to get loose and allow Nix to pick this Bills defense apart.

Denver Broncos Preview

Denver Broncos are the Cinderella team of 2024-2025. No one expected them to play at the success rate that they have this season. They hang their hats on a very good defense and a rookie QB in Bo Nix, that is getting the job done!

Broncos went 10-7 SU and 12-5 ATS this year. They were printing money with their ATS record and that is mainly due to no one giving this team a chance.  They loved proving doubters wrong and did so many times. They were 4-5 this year as underdogs getting points and in games where they got a touchdown or more, they were 4-1. Here today, they are getting 8.5.

As we said earlier, Bo Nix will be the focal point here and the scary part is rookie QB’s just don’t do well in the postseason, that is a fact no one can refute. But he has a head coach in Sean Payton who has a plethora of experience in the postseason from his days with the New Orleans Saints, and he may be just what is needed to get Nix ready!

Handicapping and Prediction

Let’s be blunt and to the point here…. We think Buffalo wins the AFC Wild Card game BUT there is no chance we feel comfortable enough to lay 8.5 points to a red hot team like Denver. Additionally, we don’t really like the total here as it is 47 points and we are right there on the edge on what side that can go.

What we do like is the team total of 27.5 on Buffalo. This offense when at home is tough to slow down. Add in the fact that they will be playing in the bitter cold will make this a perfect game in Buffalo! This will be a very low play, more of a lean than a play, but we will take Buffalo Team Total OVER 27.5 at Xbet

Pick: Buffalo Team Total Over 27.5
